What is the best show on television?

  • Breaking Bad

  • Boardwalk Empire

  • Dexter

  • Mad Men

  • The Walking Dead

  • House

  • Sons of Anarchy

  • Grey's Anatomy

  • White Collar

  • Leverage

  • Some version of the CSI shows

  • Glee

Results are only viewable after voting.
For everyone voting NCIS, that would fall under "Some version of the CIS shows."

Also, 3 of the 5 on my list are routinely nominated for Best Drama of the Year (Mad Men, Dexter, Breaking Bad).

The Event isn't even going to get renewed for a second season so how could I justify including that?

CSI and NCIS are not the same show.

None of the above either. The only shows I really like to watch are "Eastbound and Down" and "The Office."

NCIS isn't a version of CSI; it's a spinoff of JAG (which I would have ranked as the best show ever if we included shows that weren't on anymore!)

And poor ratings don't always reflect the quality of a show.

The People's Choice Awards have included Glee as a comedy.

I voted for Boardwalk Empire (really like Steve Buscemi). I also think Mad Men is a great show. But you left off my all time fav, True Blood. :worship:

I think the HBO series are way better than the networks but the cable shows (like Mad Men and Breaking Bad) are getting better by the year!

The only one from your list that I watch regularly is Grey's Anatomy so that's the one I voted for.

Used to watch House, and the CSI shows but got bored with them.

Many of the ones on your poll I've never seen.

Saw the first episode of Glee and just though it was...well, stupid. Sorry to those who like that show.

Dude no Burn Notice:confused:

That is just wrong. Unless you're counting that as a comedy. People's Choice Awards have it under Tv obsession category, and it most definitely is 1 of my obsessions. That and NCIS, which like the others say is SOO NOT a CSI:sad2: We visit Abby in the lab but that's it.

I saw that, and it boggles me because I didn't find the show funny at all. I find the dialogue very true to life but not funny in the  sense. But after a couple of episodes its not on my must see list anywhow.

Very hard decision for me as Mad Men and Glee are 2 of my very favorites. I voted for Mad Men because it's not on right now and I'm missing it.

My problem was that I didn't find it interesting ;) LOL. I'm definitely a drama person over a comedy person and I think my problem with Glee is that it's too gimicky. I'm also the person who hated Chicago, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised that I hated it.

True Blood baby! But out of the shows you listed, I'm gonna say Mad Men.

Drama only huh, Walking Dead and Medium but of the ones you list it's a close call between House and Dexter because I like unusual characters. Greys seems to have slowed down... I miss the old characters, the pizazz seems gone. I like pizazz, and not just because I like the word.

Given the choices, I voted for Glee.

My real favorite is Cougar Town (a sit com) that hit its stride in the middle of its first season, and which I highly recommend watching if you have not already done so.

The only shows on that list I even watch are "House" and "Grey's Anatomy" but I can't say I am excited about either anymore.

My absolute favorite is "Castle" followed closely by "The Vampire Diaries". I also like "Hawaii 5-0", but best on TV? No. True Blood and Men of a Certain Age are both also great IMO.

What do you consider the best show on television? I'm going to try to make a legitimate poll but obviously some choices will probably get left off. Disclaimer: I'm not putting any comedies in the list because there is just no way they can be considered "the best show."

Yeah, because we all hated Seinfeld at the time. Goodness knows Modern Family is horrible. Weeds didn't rate a ranking; too funny? I can't vote. Most of the choices are too formula for me.

I love Grey's Anatomy and it has gotten so much better since they got rid of Izzie but it is defintiely not what I would consider to be the best show on TV.

Some of my favorites are:

In Plain Sight
Castle
NCIS
NCIS:LA
Psych
Royal Pains
White Collar

CSI and NCIS are not the same show.
Agreed!!!!!

Thank you for explaining the origin of NCIS, and how it's not related to the CSI franchise in any way!

See, I hated Seinfeld. And also not a fan of Modern Family. I do kind of see where the OP is coming from, but of all the shows I've watched the one I go back to more than any other is Friends. I think maybe there's a difference between "best" and "favorite". I think Mad Men is simply brilliant.

It's the only reason why I'll tune in to NCIS on occasion!
