Other than Grey's, I haven't seen any of these shows. And I don't watch Grey's anymore either.

My "must see" tv would be:

1. The Event
2. Modern Family
3. Vampire Diaries
4. Outsourced
5. Chuck
6. The Middle
7. Hawaii Five-O
8. Desperate Housewives
9. Psych

Dont watch a single show on that list......

Sorry, but you're selling comidies way short.

Community, Big Bang Theory or Modern Family all are very very good.

For a drama perspective, Friday Night Lights would get my vote and Im also fond of the Event.....although it's gone now for 3 months.

I don't watch much TV, and the only show on the list I've seen is Glee. Some of them I haven't even heard of. However, I stopped watching Glee when it moved to Tuesday night. I prefer to watch NCIS.

Also, I will say that I am enjoying the new Hawaii 5-0. I don't make it a point to see it -- like NCIS, but I will definitely watch it if I remember to.

I also think Criminal Minds is an excellent show. I don't watch it much because I find it too disturbing, but I thought it was very well done the times I have seen it. Maybe it is so disturbing because it is so well done.

Hard for me to choose I like and enjoy most of those shows. The only shows I don't care for at all are CSI shows and Grey's Anatomy. I dislike a lot of procedural crime shows that have stand alone/new storylines every week.

None of the above.

Friday Night Lights is by far the best show on TV right now. It's a shame not more people watch it... the 5th and final season will start sometime in late spring.

And I'm from MA and still think it's awesome, DisneyCowgirl! :)

I too love FNL. I didn't put it because I don't think it has the viewer base required to be considered the best show.

Although Friday Night Lights is my second favorite show and I hate that it never got the following it deserved, my all time favorite show is Sons of Anarchy.

This season's finale was so intense that I was actually yelling out loud at the TV. I needed a valium after watching it.

Good to find some fellow FNL fans. I think the show is too different for people to give it a chance. I started watching FNL mainly because I was tired of all the doctor, cop and lawyer shows. I also love Sons of Anarchy.

I voted for The Walking Dead. Aside from the gore, the whole idea of survival in outrageous circumstances always fascinated me. Every time I watch, I wonder if I'd be able to survive and fight off the "walkers". I think I could physically survive, but mentally I'd be a mess.

And my second choice is House. That guy is hot in a quirky way.

By the way, for fans of The Walking Dead, I just saw that this Sunday is the season finale. How can it be over for the season already, it just started??

The writing for Walking Dead *needs* to change. I love the horror genre so I watch it but it's pretty bad. Although I heard a rumor they fired most/all? of the writers. :confused3 The story line has so much potential.

Dexter, used to be my favorite show but this season sucks! I hate all of the current story lines, they are so boring!

So based on the shows listed and that we are watching I would say Mad Men is my favorite. I loved the Peggy/Dan episode in that last season, it was amazing.

I have season one of Breaking Bad but we haven't started watching it yet.

And my favorite show of all time is Buffy :thumbsup2

Haha that was such a long answer huh?

I don't understand why a comedy isn't "allowed" to be on the list? Some of the best shows ever in the history of TV have been comedies....

I agree!

OP - In your poll, the only one I go out of my way to watch is Grey's Anatomy, but my actual favorite of current shows is Parenthood.

Just in case anyone cares, here is Stephen King's list from the new EW (it's not all drama... but just TV shows in general):

10. Morning Joe (MSNBS) (I never heard of this, but after reading his description is sounds a lot more entertaining than The View)
9. Boardwalk Empire (HBO)
8. Spongebob Squarepants (NICK) (I'm guessing if comedies weren't allowed, this would definitely not be OK... just teasing, OP!)
7. Sons of Anarchy (FX)
6. Dexter (Showtime)
5. Damages (FX)
4. The Event (NBC)
3. Breaking Bad (AMC)
2. Walking Dead (AMC)
1. Friday Night Lights (DIRECTTV/NBC)

I don't watch any of these shows... not even Spongebob! LOL.

I have seen King write about a lot of these shows in his EW column. I tried to like The Event but the show has too much bad writing. I like all the other shows that King likes.

The first season was always scheduled for 6 episodes. AMC wanted to see how ratings were before they brought out a full season. Season 2 will be 13 episodes. The same thing was done with Breaking Bad. :thumbsup2

For everyone voting NCIS, that would fall under "Some version of the CIS shows."

Also, 3 of the 5 on my list are routinely nominated for Best Drama of the Year (Mad Men, Dexter, Breaking Bad).

The Event isn't even going to get renewed for a second season so how could I justify including that?
