Best section of Saratoga Springs to stay in?

Which section of Saratoga Springs is the best to stay in? Carousel, Paddock, Springs, Congress Park...the new section? Also, is the entire resort open now?

Beautiful views of DTD and a walkway that gets you there pretty fast by foot.
I've heard other posters say that the new Grandstand section has great views.
It's a wonderful resort. You really can't go wrong anywhere. Enjoy!

The pool and Dining is right across the street, very convienent. We are older and can't walk distances.

We recently stayed in the new section (Grand Stand) and really loved it. The pool was great and you can refill your mug there. It wasn't too far from the main area but a good distance to the walk for downtown.

Depends on what you want to do!
Congress Park is great if you want to hop over to DTD alot.
Springs is great if you want to be close to the "last bus stop out of the Resort" and the main pool.
Grandstand has really nice views of the golf course and 2 buildings are a very short walk up to the carriage house. The pool there is very nice & shows movies on an outdoor screen most evenings for the kids and kids at heart! Just stayed there and it is now our favorite area! It also is the "first stop back in the resort...nice when you are coming back on a crowded bus with all the "tired people" late at night!! Hmmm...actually there isn't a bad place to stay in all of SSR IMHO. Go and enjoy the magic!

We have reservations at SSR in December so I'm quite interested in hearing (well, reading) these opinions.

We have two little ones (under 4) that LOVE to swim and my parents (who can't walk very far).

I think there is still one building in the Grandstand section yet to open. It should be open probably within a month.

Just stayed in the Grandstand section, and it has a lot of points in it's favor. It's the first bus stop, so you can be dropped off first. It's a short walk to the main area. And you can easily walk to the Springs bus stop to hop on a bus without riding through the whole resort. (And may catch a bus already 'in the loop').

However, I think I'll request Congress Park from now on. The views of DTD (for the most part) are great. And the CP pool is my favorite leisure pool.

So far we have stayed in Congress Park, The Springs and The Paddocks....we have requested the Grandstand for this trip in August. If I had to choose from the 3 locations that we have stayed in...it would be the Paddocks! I loved it there!!!

We have stayed twice in Congress Park and loved it both times. We just went with the luck of the drawer and made no request for location. Lovely spot though.

I love the Springs for easy walking to the main pool and food. But I am currently sitting in a studio on the 4th floor grandstand section that just opened BEAUTIFUL! I love SSR and wish I was an owner!!

We have been in Congress Park each time - hoping to get a different area for our trip in October 07 (just to try a new spot), but we love CP. The resort has really grown into its own - just beautiful. We stayed at BWV's our last trip (as a family) and I wanted to go to SSR to see how the resort had progressed. Wow - could not be happier that this is our home.

Congress Park!!

The DTD views at night are second to none

I would take that view over Boardwalk view any day! The great thing about SSR is there are many desireable sections not just one.

Congress Park, 1st Floor, View of DTD.

We usually make the request upon check-in. It has been granted all three times we've stayed at SSR.

The room is usually near a corner, which makes the car only a short walk away. This is great for check in and check out!

Then the Springs is for you. Close to the pool and eating places. I use a cane and the Springs is very, very convenient.

I've stayed at Congress park, and the springs. My wife loves Congress park, because of the views of DTD, and its an easy walk for her to go shop. I liked the springs, close to refill my coffee in the morning when i go for a walk alone before everyone gets up.

Our next trip we are going to try for one of the new areas to see what that is like.
