Best sandals for feet & wallet?

I have a lot of problems with my feet -- very flat arches, tendonitis in my feet, and bad ankles. For the most part, I'll wear my sneakers with orthotic insert, but I'd also like to get a good pair of sandals with arch support for the times when I need to switch shoes.

I really don't want to spend more than $70 or 80. How do Birkenstock and Teva compair? Are there any other brands? I have a pair of Earth shoe sandals from Walmart, but they're okay for walking around the grocery store. Definitely not theme park walking!

My poor feet hurt just from thinking about this trip.

I have bad feet too, and I live in Soft Footbed Birkenstocks, all summer long and at WDW. I know not everyone love them, but me feet feel so good in them. They are not cheap though.

I too need arch supports. I live in Merrills! They are fantastic (and cute too!). They are in the $70-$80 range, but sooo worth it! Have a great trip!

I'm on my feet all day at work, and I live in my Merrells. I just bought a new pair of sandals for my trip. They were $69 - and worth every penny. I have two other pair of Merrells that I wear all the time. My feet never get sore.

Thanks for the ideas! I've never heard of Merrells, so I'll have to look them up. I've got a couple of months before I go, so I have time to try them out. I just need to buy them somewhere that has a good return policy

Sports Authority has a lot of their Tevas on sale right now. I bought a pair yesterday for $29.99, which was half price! I can't remember the style name, but they are gray leather and the plastic piece the strap at the toes goes through is cushioned underneath. That part is important to me because the ones without that feature hurt my feet.

I love Rocket Dogs! Very comfortable and stylish. I have very high arches, a high instep and wide (great for ballet dancing). But when it comes to comfort and looks, I like Rocket Dogs and Coconuts.

Can't wear Merrells (the arch kills me), Teva's are not stylish enough (for me). I think less is more!

The only time my feet are happy is when they are devoid of all coverings but I lucked out last year. While wandering K Mart I found a pair of sandals for $3. My feet are so darned wide that I have never been able to wear sandals but these things fit perfectly. Because of that luck I spent 16 days in comfort with nary a sore tootsie at DW. (should have bought a couple more pair)

No matter what pair you decide on please wear them at home to make sure if they are perfect before you go. A small rub at home adds up to big blisters at DW.

For me Birks are a neccessity.

Try QVC.com They have several styles, at around $70, some with easypay, to split up the cost into 3 payments.

They are not particularly inexpensive, but "Bite" has a line of sport sandals that are made to accept orthotics. You wouldn't have to skip wearing the orthotic with those.

If you are interested in Teva's check Sports Authority...Maryland stores had a great sale. Paid 17.97 for a pair of 60.00 sandals last week.

I have orthodics, too, and my podiatrist recommended Birks and Ecco. I was going to ask those of you that wear orthodics, do you wear them in your sandals?????

I have a couple of pair of Teva's that I LOVE. I just ordered another pair from shoes.com. My dr. didn't think that they offered much support, but they are comfy, or they were until I got tendonitis and Plantars Faciaitis (sp?). This will be my first summer in orthodics.

I would get the "Arizona" Birkenstock sandals. They are the best! You will need to wear them around for about a month to break them in, but they are soooo comfy they are like slippers after a while! You can't even tell you are wearing shoes!

I also have the Arizona Birkenstocks and my feet are very happy an cool at WDW. I want to get a pair of Tevas for the water repellant. But I live in my Birks from the moment it's warm enough until fall hits. At work I wear Merrills, which are great also. Just never worn their sandals.

I live in birkstocks sandles. I love them. I new tennis shoe sandle made earthshoe which made like a tennis shoe that love. Check K-Mart for shoe soho brand tennis shoes sandles that good shoe to.

Does anyone know much about Doc Marten sandals? I have some of their boots and love them, my DW has some of their sandals and likes them as well (although she does say they are pretty heavy). Has anyone tried their flip-flip sandals? Just curious.
