Here's my itinerary for this Sunday:

Staying at PO:French Quarter.
Have 10:30 am breakfast reservation at Kona Cafe.
Then spend the afternoon at the Typhoon waterpark.
Then go to Animal Kingdom Lodge and explore it a little before having a light diner and drinks at the Mara Lounge.

My issue is that all of this is new to me and I'm struggling to figure out the best modes of Disney transport, and where to go to make the connections. What would be your strategy for tackling this plan the most efficiently?

On this Sunday morning I have a 10:30 am breakfast reservation at Kona Cafe. However, I'm staying at PO:French Quarter. Afterward, I'm going to spend the afternoon at the Typhoon waterpark. I don't have any solid plans for the evening, so was thinking that might be a good time to visit the Animal Kingdom Lodge (it wasn't in my original plans but I wouldn't mind seeing it) and explore it a little before having a light diner and drinks at the Mara Lounge.

If solely relying on Disney transport....

POFQ to Poly: Bus to MK, take the resort monorail or boat to Poly (you'll have to go through MK security when you leave the bus unloading area, FYI)
Poly to TL: Bus to DS, then transfer to a bus to TL (this is the only way to get from any resort to TL)
TL to AKL: Bus to DS, then transfer to a bus to AKL
AKL to POFQ: Best bet is probably take the bus to AK, then transfer to a bus to POFQ

Lots of transferring and bus time for sure. Uber/Lyft/Cab between any one of those segments could save some time if an option for you.

Others please chime in if you have different ideas!

Depending on how many people are in your group, I would Uber to Poly or take the bus to MK, with a day bag or backpack containing bathing suits and everything else you want for the water park. I would then take the boat launch to Poly. After breakfast, I would take the bus from Poly to Typhoon Lagoon. I'd use the changing rooms at the water park, and put the bag with dry clothes in a locker.

When ready to head to AKL, I would change into dry clothes before leaving the water park. I'd take a Disney bus to AKL, and then return to POFQ either by Uber or a Disney bus via Disney Springs and then a boat back to the resort.

But it's my understanding there are no Disney buses from the resorts to Typhoon Lagoon. Is that wrong?

If you're not in a hurry to get back to your room, and if it's not raining, you could take a bus from AKL to DS followed by a leisurely boat trip to POFQ.

Actually that brings up a good question: Are the boats a bad idea if it's raining?

1. Port Orleans to Kona- using Disney transportation, take a bus to MK and monorail or boat to poly. Uber or taxi is easier, but it costs.
2. I think you have to transfer to a water park from park. I am not sure exactly as I’ve not done Typhoon Lagoon before.
3. Get to animal kingdom lodge via bus from any park.

They are fully covered in case of rain, but if there is lightning in the area, they may cancel the boats until it passes.
