What's the best route to the Fort when coming down I 75? I'm getting different directions from every mapping program. Help!
:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Clearly the best way BY FAR is to come down I75 to the turnpike and follow the 'Pike to exit 267a (I think it's 'a'). Anyway it will take you to another toll road Hwy 429 which goes south (the ramp pulls off and bear to the right). There's one toll booth as I recall and get off at exit 6 or 8 (can't recall) and the exit is for "Western Way". This route is lightly travelled and is especially nice if you are towing or pulling anything. It comes into the Disney property by Coronado Springs Resort and Blizzard Beach.

It beats coming in on Hwy 535 (too many subdivisions, two lane road, and traffic) and it sure as heck beats taking the 'Pike to I4. You will love taking 429.

Watch out on the Western Way itself - it can be a speed trap and is frequently patrolled so watch your speed!

Enjoy! :car:

I usually take the turnpike to US27, then South to FL192. Only reason I do is
I drove an 18 wheeler out of the Orlando area for a while and if anything happens on the turnpike it just becomes a parking lot.

Thanks for the info. Your route sounds alot better than the one we took last time. We stayed on tollroad until we hit I 4. Lots of traffic and out of the way.

The new 429S is the BEST way to go!!

He's not joking about the speed trap thing though so be careful. The first year it was open, we used it. There is one part where you're on a nice straight stretch (you will be able to see Everest to your right). Shortly after, there is a sharp curve that turns left then right. We were going along at 55 just looking at Everest, turn the curve and there stood one cop in the middle with a speed gun and another waving people off to the side in long lines. At first I though that it had choked down to 45 but when I asked what the speed limit was and he said 35 my mouth dropped open. He took pity on us and wrote it for 45 though. It's still a bad speed trap as I never saw a 35mph sign anywhere. Bad way to start off a vacation so watch out.

It is a nice road though, most of the way there was at max 1 car behind or in front of us....until we got to the speed trap of course.

Is it quicker then going down 27 to 192?

According to Mapquest south 429 exit off of the turnpike is 267A and Western Way is exit 8.

429 is the way we go. We use to go 27 to 192 but I can't stand all the stops along the way. 27 use to be in the "country" but it's very populated no. There is nothing (almost nothing) on 429. I'm sure it won't stay that way for long but it's better right now. The Western Way runs beside Coronado Springs and you can see the backside of Animal Kingdom.

This is a new freeway / Toll Road which meets all the standards for truck travel so you should have no trouble. You'll find it a plesant drive with very little traffic. There is one toll booth on this road, but you will miss one of the ones on the Florida Turnpike so I don't think there is any additional cost.
