best rooms?

Hello, we are going on the Dec3, 2005 Western Carr cruise. Wondering if there are certain room numbers that are better than others? We have booked the nav ver but have heard that some rooms have a better view or something about secret rooms? Anyone with info please let us know.

Also how do you get those little boxes with the count down clock? thank you Lynette

I had the same problem about three weeks ago, so I did a search for countdown timers and found a thread with instructions. It was not that hard. As far as the rooms go, this is our first, so I can't give any info.

To get your countdown clock, go back to the main DisBoards page and click on the "technical Support" forum near the bottom of the page. It has all the info to make it really easy.

As far as which rooms are better, I think that it really depends on the person and what you are looking for. The secret porthole rooms are actually priced as inside cabins because their porthole has a partially obstructed or mostly obstructed view. However, this is a good deal if you were going to book an inside cabin anyway--you get an extra "bonus". The side of the ship with a better view depends on what you are trying to view--it will be different with each itinerary as you pass different islands on different sides. Some people prefer not to be next to the elevators b/c of noise.

THe best rooms on the seas are any of the ones on the Disney Magic or Disney Wonder.

As far as "secret rooms" there are the "Secret Porthole Rooms" on deck 5. They are classified as cat 10 - inside, but they have a partially obstructed porthole. Rooms 5520 and 5020 have the least obstruction. THe other 4 rooms are 5022, 5024, 5522, 5524.

THere are also some veranda rooms that have been "down catagorized". Since I have never considered a verandah, I have not paid too much attention to what these rooms really are. But others on the DIS know the answer!

The "best rooms" are whatever you want. There are a few rooms listed as "noisy" on some sites, but they seem to vary from one cruise to another. The only really negative I'm aware of are the ones right under the nightclubs.

Everyone has their own preferences. Low and close to midship has least motion. Secret portholes are a special bargain, as are the obstructed verandahs. This doesn't mean that they are "best," only that you get something more than what you pay for.

As far as we're concerned, after 10 cruises, the "best" room is any room on the Magic!!!!
