Best rooms to waitlist?

Hi all. I just called and tried to get a DVC room for the end of October.

STOP LAUGHING AT ME!

:) We used to go every year for Halloween but my kids switched schools last year and days off didn't work out. Looking through the calendar this year I noticed that one of them has off the 25th and a half day on the 24th! I zipped over to DVC and needless to say there is zero availability which I see in other threads that you guys have discussed already, so I won't go there.

I thought I'd put a waitlist in just in case but I wondered what resort and room type have more availability so I can maybe up the chances.

For example, I didn't want to request a 1 bedroom standard at BLT if there are only 3 rooms of that category etc.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

SSR would be your best bet, followed by OKW due to the sizes of those resorts.

1 bedrooms generally have more availability than other sizes. As mentioned above SSR is the largest resort and the one most likely to open up.

As far as resorts go, SSR would have the highest probability since it has the most rooms by far and there are no special view categories that you have to choose among when booking for the studios through 2BRs, OKW other than Hospitality House area would be second, likely followed by AKV savanna view at Kidani, and then by BWV pool/garden or BLT lake view. The 1BRs would probably have a higher probability than others to open up but not for the usual reason. 1BRs are usually the last to fill at any resort but that does not mean they would be the first to have cancellations. The reason you likely have a better chance at a 1BR is that there are likely fewer members already on the wait list for one than studios and 2BRs.

I don't know how many nights you are looking for but I would look for resorts that have some of your nights vs ones that are soldout for every night. I wanted Nov 21 to 25, SSR was the only one with all nights available. I booked it and waitlisted AKV Kidani which had 3 of 4 nights available. My waitlist came through within 24 hours.

I would do two waitlists.

1 Bedroom SSR
1 Bedroom Savannah View Kidani

My late booking experience over the past year has moved AKV ahead of OKW. I think the low points make my home resort too popular :)

Thanks all.

It is 4 nights.

I have one for a studio at OKW and trying to decide on the other.

Thanks again for the advice.
