best room location for HRH?

I saw someone started a thread like this for PBH, so I thought I would ask for everyone's advice for the hard rock, as I will be staying there for the first time in sept.

My personal preference is pool view near the elevators on a high floor ... nice view of the pool and parks and the convenience of being close to the elevator (some of the rooms can be a hike!).

Do you stand a better chance of picking rooms the earlier you arrive to check-in ??? Or are you at the mercy of the clerk you have hoping she, or he's having a good day?

We just got back and had requested a room CLOSE to the elevators, we learned from our last visit, we got rm 3072. It was down the hallway from the store. Great location. Not noisy at all, only about 10 rooms on this wing, so not too much traffic. I'd ask for it again. Some of the rooms in this wing are suites.
