First question - can you request a specific room in a long house? I know it is up to them to decide if they grant it but didn't know if it is ok to request a specific room number.

Second question - Which room should we ask for if we can. We are currently requesting a garden view room at Samoa. I think we would like to stay on the volcano pool side. I was wondering if we would be better with ground floor or 3rd floor balcony (since second floor has no balcony.) Can you see the castle at all from the corner rooms?

Thanks!

We stayed in Samoa last July and we were in 3611, which is the llast room on the quiet pool side. There is no view of the castle from any room in Samoa, since it's blocked by the Hawaii building. I requested a room in Samoa, but didn't request a particular room number. If your room number request isn't available, they'll just assign you any room. All I asked for was a room in Samoa, remember that's a request all in itself, not a guarantee. If you really want to stay in Samoa, ask for that first, then maybe a balcony or patio room second. Remember your requests are granted on a first come/first serve basis and Samoa is probably one of the smallest longhouses. The volcano side can get pretty rowdy at night, which is why I was glad to be on the quiet pool side. We have little kids (5 and 2) and any activity outside would have kept them up. That might be something to keep in mind.

I doubt you'd have too much success requesting a specific room as the room assigners have to work hard to make the puzzle fit together so each room is always occupied, but you can always try.

We just got back and spent two nights in room 2608 (Samoa, 2nd Floor,Volcano Pool side). Great room. You could lie in bed and see part of the lagoon and the GF. While there was no balcony, the slider did open so you could open the door, take in the sounds, and watch the palm trees sway. Great view of the volcano pool.

Rooms facing the volcano pool were 2601 thru 2610 (and I assume 1601 - 1610, 3601 - 3610)

If the question is "What is the best room in Samoa?" I'd have to answer Room 1607. It's a direct walk to the pool steps and has a fairly unobstructed view toward the lagoon. If you are planning to spend a lot of time at the resort and use the volcano pool often, it's basically perfect.

We stayed in samoa 1602 volcano side, ground floor in august with the 3 ds. This was just perfect for us. Ds loved shouting volcano and opening the slider. We kept the slider unlocked when they went for their mug runs or were coming out of the pool. DH just wanted to rest in the ac sometimes. I really didnt notice the noise at all from the pool. You could hear the fireworks and water parade music at night even with the slider closed. I would also say, if you do pick a room with a ground floor pool view, make sure you keep the shade shut at night. There really is alot of pedestrian traffic going past, especially in the summer. Also I did notice that the all the way down the end of Samoa if you walked out alot of people congregated down there to view the fireworks, it was not all the time, only during the fireworks.
