We will be making our first trip to DL in July. We will have our 2 yr old son with us. What restaurants are must do's at DL as well as around the area? We are getting a citypass so we will be around the area a good bit and we will be in San Diego.

Jazz Kitchen is (in our opinion) the beat restaurant at DRL, unless you take Napa Rose into consideration.

In the park, either Blue Bayou or Cafe Orleans, the former for the atmosphere, though pricey, the latter has similar food which is slightly cheaper but just as tasty with outdoor dining. Funnel cake from either the Stage Door Cafe or Mint Julep Bar is wonderful.
Outside the park our must-do's are Buca-di-Beppo on Harbor, California Pizza Kitchen on Katella/Harbor (artichoke dip is awesome!), and DH loves In-N-Out burger (they only have 3 items on the menu, a hamburger, a cheeseburger, and a double cheeseburger, and they do them all ridiculously well).

In-N-Out also has a Not So Hidden Menu and a few other items that are not even on their official Not So Hidden Menu. My favorite off the menu item is the Napoleon Shake (Layers of Strawberry, Chocolate, and Vanilla Shakes).

Our Number one place to eat at DLR is Cafe Orleans followed closely by Plaza Inn, Tortilla Joes and Rainforest Cafe!

We like Steakhouse 55, Napa Rose and the Blue Bayou.

BUCCA DE PEPPO!!

It's a couple blocks down the road from Disneyland, and its AMAZING. Its the only place we will go eat at for dinner or lunch. Absolutely amazing food, great service, and the restaurant decor itself is pretty neat to go into.

We have been going there for the last 6 or so years now, every time we have flow to Anaheim as we used to stay at the Embassy Suites(which is how we discovered the restaurant). After driving down from Canada, our van broke down AND got a flat in their parking lot and the manager ended up using her own Triple A card to help us out. An absolutely phenomenal restaurant EVERYONE needs to try.

Also if you do not have a vehicle, one of the Art Buses can take you straight down there as they share the same property as the stop for Embassy Suites(usually route K or J).

We have a local Bucca's and it's awful!!:sad2: Sad attempts at being Italian food and all served family style. Maybe it's just me....but I'm not a fan...

My vote is for In-n-Out! You can only get them in a few states and if you're a burger fan, you've GOT to try these! Big plus goes for being all natural beef and with a young child, I can't imagine you would be going anywhere super "fancy". I know I wouldn't attempt it...

Our fav off site resturants are Mimi's next to HOJO's and In-N-Out burger in Fullterton (a 5 to 10 min drive up Harbor Blvd depending on traffic). The entire family is in drool mode over thinking of eating at In-N-Out burger when we leave to drive down to the mouse in 10 days:lovestruc:lovestruc. It's the first burger the kids would eat when we went to there in Feb/09. Before eating at In-N-Out burger they refused to eat hamburgers. In the parks I love the Plaza Inn for their pasta, Royal Street Veranda for their gumbo, and Stage Door Cafe in Frontierland for their fish and chips.

...in-n out found it really salty . My BIL raved how we had to go and eat there but homestly I don't get the hype. (just my opinion though)
But if you have a car we went here and our kids loved it..about a fifteen minute drive http://elfarolitomex.com/

That's to bad you've had such a bad experience at your local restaurant. The one in Garden Grove is absolutely to die for!!

We aren't fans of BdB either. Don't like the food and it's SO LOUD inside.

I haven't been to DL in 6 years, but my favorite was always the Rainforest cafe. I insisted as a kid that we eat there every time we went to Disneyland.

Disneyland: Counter service - Pizza Port (pasta and salad) & Plaza Inn (fried chicken plate); Sit-down - Carnation Cafe (breakfast, pot pies, meat loaf, potato soup, salad)
Downtown Disney: Jazz Kitchen (lots of things)
Disney Hotels - Steakhouse 55 (breakfast but dinner is on our to-do list for someday) & Storyteller's Cafe (breakfast or dinner buffet)
Off-property: Mimi's (lots of things)

Where to start...I could eat my way through Disney (almost!)!! On property, we like Plaza Inn (I like chix, hubby likes roast beef), breakfast at carnation Cafe, and the chicken strips at Stagedoor/Golden Horshoe are great. For faster meals, we like the chowder in a bread bowl at the Royal Street Veranda and my girls love the corndogs at the litte red wagon on main street. I can say that we did not like Rancho del Zocolo and I am not a mint julep girl! Off property our favorite is hands down Mimi's cafe...great every time we have gone there!!
