What are some of the best restaurants you've eaten at? Is the luau worth $50? How far in advance can you make a PS?

TIA
Bartty

The Luau @ RPR was great ! We really enjoyed it.
Here's my two cents - we sat in the back to be in the shade & missed some of the show because we could not see over the people in front of us. Get a table with a better view & bring sunscreen instead!

As for in the parks we like Mythos in IOA, that is our # 1 choice - in Studios Finnegans is really good with traditional Irish food, & possibly a good view of the Blues Brothers show !

Tratatora (not the full name, & probably not spelled right) is in the Portofino bay Hotel has a wonderful breakfast buffet.
Sal's deli which is also at the Portofino has really good pizza & side dishes you can get buy the pound. (because sometimes you need a pound of tomato/mozzerella salad!!)

:mickeybar Yummy!

Hope that helps :)

MYTHOS is our all time favorite!! We had a great meal at Tchoup Chop at the RPR also. We like having a sit down lunch at Lombard's Landing in US.

My two cents also Finnegans & Lombards at USO excellent food great atmosphere at Finnegans at the hotels Tchoup Tchoup great food also the tratoria del porto buffet at PBH great food again pricey but quality I found on city walk most reataurants had the same variety of offerrings all good:jester:

Thanks everyone!! Looks like we will be dining at finnegans, lombards, mythos, and tchoup chop!!
I hope my belly can handle all that food ;)

I wanted to jump in here and second Mythos. Excellent food, price and atomsphere. (sp) My next suggestion for a nice meal and great atomsphere is Magaritaville in city walk. Well worth your time to check out. Great food great prices and a ton of fun. A next must do is Mama Della's. The buffett next door is at Tratora is expensive and well it's good but for my money i would'nt do it. Mama's is excellent Itlalian food with a great kids menu and wonderful romantic dinner with the kids if you can fathom that. :) They have a great kids menu and trust me your pre teens if you have them would get FULL off the servings they are generous there. I personally haven't tried The Kitchen at the HRH but it gets great reviews here and i plan to put that on my list of things to do. I hope you try M'ville and Mama's you will need ressie's at momma's just call the hotel concierges and they can make them for you i would say the morning you want to go there call unless it's a holiday or a busy time of year like christmas/newyears book a month ahead. Have a great trip and if you like lobster and crab you should get the soup at Mythos ohhhhhhhhhhhh makes me hungry to think about it. They serve bread before the meals so keep that in mind when ordering so you don't get to much food. I usually do the soup and a pizza of the day it's always wonderful.

Adding a vote for Mythos -- it is great. We also really liked the Kitchen. We stayed at HRH and ate about 4 meals at the Kitchen -- were happiest with breakfast and diner, lunch was just "good". Also, we had a lousy meal with unbelievably bad service (rude!) at NBA City although I know others like it. Hubby and I ate at the Palm -- thought it was better than Shulas where we had eaten a few nights before (at WDW Dolphin), although the service was not on a par with Shulas.

Im sure I spelled that wrong- but how far in advance can you make reservations for Emerils restuarant? Do they have a childrens menu?
thanks!

I made reservations for Tchoup Chop on line. Went to Emeril's website and they had a link to make reservations. It was easy and they sent a confirmation via e-mail.

If you need to add a counter service, Thunder Falls Terrace and the Enchanted Oak both in IOA are good and very reasonable. I haven't found a particularly good counter service in Universal yet but the bakery at the entrance is fine and I frequent Starbucks more than I should.

Also, Margaritaville is a favorite for lunch and the Nascar Cafe makes a decent sandwich.

Happy dining!

Thanks for the info everyone. It's so great to know what's good before you go so you don't get disappointed on your vacation!

Thanks again

We liked NBA City. My husband really enjoyed watching basketball and the food/service was very good.

Counter service in the studios, Louie's pizza was good and inexpensive.

I have the same need! :teeth: I really like Sal's. As you mentioned the pizza is really good and it's a great place for a relatively inexpensive meal.

Bartty,
I was really thinking about it and although I certainly have my very favorite UO restaurants (Mythos, NBA City, Tchoup Chop), I can honestly say that we've never had a truly horrible meal anywhere on UO property, be it at the parks, at City Walk or at the hotels. Obviously, some are a bit better than others but NEVER have I had to say, "OMG, that was just awful." I really think you can't go very wrong no matter where you eat. You should choose the type of cuisine you prefer and I bet you'll be pleased with whichever restaurant you pick.

Another vote for Mythos. Very good!

Also want to add that we had a couple of good meals at Pastamore. My Ds(14) had the clams w/ alfredo and loved it. Husband really enjoyed the eggplant parm. My chicken parm was decent. Ds(7) reported that the spaghetti and meatballs were much better than at Circus. Not exactly a 4* restaurant, but it sure beat the counter services in the parks. And prices were decent. And we always got in without a reservation. Maybe that should be indicative of something, but we found the service excellent and the food portions huge and palatable.

Didn't have the GCs, but they always honored our AP pass for the discount.

I've never been to Mythos, but I'm definitely going to check it out while I am there in September. It seems to be a fan favorite around here.

I know its not a gourmet meal but I thought it would be cool to eat at Monster Cafe on Halloween. However, I saw its only open "seasonally". Does anyone know what that means? Only high season? Halloween is I believe low season. I'll be disappointed if its not open. On another note, I was recommended to Mythos also. We'll be eating there the next day!
