I am trying to decide where to eat in downtown disney for our first night. I will be traveling with my husband and 2 kids (4 and 7). Can any one give some good suggestions of where to eat or where we should avoid?:goodvibes

Our first night we're doing the same thing. We looked at menus and thought Wolfgang Puck Express looked the best, so that's what we're doing. I realize it's CS, but their menu looked wonderful.

We only ate at Captain Jack's on the last trip as a last minute stop--we didn't have ressies anywhere, the kids got hungry all of a sudden, and it had no wait time. The food was mediocre at best, and it seemed like it shouldn't cost a TS credit but a CS credit. I wouldn't go so far as to tell anyone not to go there, but it wouldn't be on top of my list.

My favorite is Wolfgang Puck Express. The food is delicious. You order at the counter, then find a table and they bring you the food.

no joke the food at Wolfgangs express is incredible. some of the best I have had at any Disney restaurant. However it is CS and not going to be a fun start to the vacation for 4 and 7 yoa kids. The food at T-rex is good and you get a ton of it. The prices were not bad and the kids will have a blast. It's a great way to kick off the vacation

If you aren't using DDP, my suggestion is House of Blues. It's our favorite DTD restaurant. The food is great. Be warned, the portions are huge. You can easily share. Most kids enjoy Rainforest Cafe & T-Rex. We think the food is fine. With those, you're mostly going for the atmosphere.

If you are using DDP, I agree with the others. I would use a CS credit at WPE, & save the TS credit for later. IMHO, WPE is exceptional for a CS restaurant, but it's not on par with TS restaurants. Don't go expecting a TS experience, & you'll be very happy with your choice. Many people really like Raglan Road. We were very disappointed in our meal. The service was fine. To us, the food wasn't. The burger was w/o a doubt the worse I've ever eaten, including McD's. That said, we will give them another try someday. Next time, we'll go for appys & dessert only.

I second the House of Blues. My husband and I always like going there. I had a great fried chicken dish the last time I was there. Earl of Sandwich is always great as well. :thumbsup2

I give another vote to Wolfgang Pucks. We make sure to eat there every trip and all of my kids love it - which is most important!

WPE gets my vote - I can almost taste that half chicken with garlic butter now .. it is sooo good. Seating is a little crazy if you go during popular meal times so you need to plan for that.

I also think EOS is really good if you don't need a full meal. I'm really picky about meatball grinders and they have a good one. DW loves the places and would love a EOS in every park.

I've eaten at Fulton's many times and its sad that the quality had gone so much. Rainforest is just always a long wait and one is in the mall nearby so it's not anything special.

HOB is a good meal, though gets loud.

The other wolfgang's is nice and have enjoyed meals both down and upstairs.

Whatever leave room for that ghirardelli soda fountain shop .. sooo good.

If you are looking for something themed, fun, loud, etc- I would go for T-Rex.

If you want something low-key, quiet I would do Wolfgang Puck Express.

I'm voting for House of Blue's too. That is where we plan to go our first night for dinner. We were there last in 2000 and LOVED it. I've already scoured their menu on allears and decided I'm going for the meatloaf if they have it. :teeth:

I like Rainforest and TRex fine, but sometimes it can be a trial to get in them.

My favorite CS is Cooke's of Dublin. I love their Steak & Lamb Pie with chips (fries). Of course, this is also where they have the deep fried Snickers bars!
