My boyfriend and I have begun the initial planning stages for a trip to WDW, but we're clueless as to which hotel would be best for us. Since we're both in our early 20's, we don't have a TON of money to spend, but want to stay somewhere nice and romantic, preferably with nice restaurants and lounges/bars. Any suggestions? I know y'all are the experts, haha. Thanks for all of your help!

CSR!! They just opened a new lounge that has live entertainment. They have a great pool, a spa, fitness center, and great food options. Fewer kids too.

Check out my CSR website below for more pics and info.

I think CSR would be good, but I would also consider either PORS or POFQ. You can take a boat from there to DTD, which given your age, is a great place to spend time.

Have fun!

POR/POFQ. It has a very romantic feeling to it, plus the lounges at both are awesome! In addition, you are a boatride away from DTD (Pleaseure Island!).

Hi! We are right around your age group and once had this same question. I would say POR/POFQ, with POR being first choice. The River Roost is a fun lounge, and the boat to DTD is great too, oh, and the grounds are lovely.

Although my husband and I are a little (ok, maybe a lot) past our 20's, we also like a little night life on the trips we take sans children. I would not recommend either POFQ or POR. In my opinion, while possibly romantic, they are BORING!! I was so looking forward to staying at POFQ, but was disappointed that it was like a ghost town after dark! Depends when you go, but there was no one in the lounge ever while we were there. (To be fair, you can take the boat launch to DTD where there is plenty of night life. We found that to be a little inconvenient because you can't just walk across the property to your room - you have to walk to the boat, then wait for the boat, then ride the boat, then walk to your room, you get the idea....... )

I recommend one of the EPCOT resorts. The Swan and the Dolphin often have specials that make it more affordable.

I have not stayed at CSR, but think that for a little nightlife, it's a MUCH better choice than either POFQ or POR. It is partly a convention hotel, so there has to be somthing to do to keep those conventioneers busy............

My DBF and I went to WDW last month. We didn't want to spend a lot of money for a resort when we would be spending most of our time in the parks. We decided on Pop and it was very nice for a value resort. Our room was facing the parking lot, though we were in the 50's building and VERY close to the nearest pool and the food court.

We didn't need that much room since it was only the two of us. We had two double beds, one we slept in and one that we kept our luggage on. The only thing I would say is request a queen size bed if you decide to stay here.

Good luck with your choice and have a wonderful trip! :)

DH and I honeymooned at POFQ last year, and we absolutely loved it. It was very romantic and quiet. The lounge is great, and after dark around the resort is pretty tame, but this can also be a good thing, as it was nice to walk around and look at the beautiful landscaping and not have a ton of people around...the hot tub was secluded as well, which was nice. You can take a horse drawn carriage ride and the boat to DTD is a plus, but can have a bit of a wait. When we were there I was 24 and DH was 26, if that helps. Good luck and have a blast!

My husband (23) and I (21) LOVED the Contemporary for our honeymoon. I say if you can manage save for a little while longer and stay at a deluxe!!!!! You really can feel the difference between the Values and deluxe resorts!!! ASMU was great for a quick trip but If I wanted to go for romantic I'd stay away from values or moderates.

I would say the Wilderness Lodge. It is the cheapest of the deluxe. Then I would say CSR, POFQ.

Swan or Dolphin.

WONDERFUL beds, better price/value deal. Overall tends to feel a little more adult. Good bars etc.

IMHO Disney Deluxe resorts are a rip off so I say pay for a mod and stay more deluxe at the Swan/Dolphin.

I vote for the WL. Before kids, it's where DH and I enjoyed staying the most.

The Swan would be nice too since it'd be close to the boardwalk which has lots to do day or night.

Also watch the codes and rates thread for discount codes you can apply to whichever resort you choose.

My husband are in our early 20's (DH is 22 and I am 20). and in May we are probably going to stay at the WL. It was either between POFQ or WL, but I think we are going for WL :)

Boardwak because the Boardwalk is a place that is very romantic and has impeccable service. Also it is the closest thing to the GF

Wow, thanks for all of the suggestions! I think I'm leaning towards CSR or the Swan or Dolphin - can't wait to research these more.

when my h and i were dating, we took our first trip to wdw (together, we had each been once as young kids). we didn't have a ton to spend, but wanted something romantic, pretty, fun. we ended up choosing POR (dixie landings). we loved the look of AB, thought it looked different than other hotels, more themed. defintely don't see beds like those at any place I've been before or since. lol. anyway, we LOVED it. it was so pretty, we loved walking around the resort, and the boat to pleasure island/dtd was awesome!

for us it was perfect. the following year we honeymooned at the BWI and we fell in love with the epcot resort area. it is really wonderful! the following year we spent our anniversary at CBR. it was okay. it just didn't hold the magic that POR did for us, and certainly didn't hold a candle to the BW area. but I wonder if we had tried it first, would it have had the magic for us that POR did?

good luck with whatever you end up choosing!

I would recommend the Swan. Much easier to get a king bed, great to have two sinks (Dolphin only has one), walk to Epcot/MGM/Boardwalk areas, beautiful & relaxing pool areas.

My boyfriend and I started going WDW together in 2005 (I was 24, he was 26). We enjoy the nightlife and the restaurants also. Our first trip, we stayed in one of the Downtown Disney area hotels which are not official WDW resorts and while we had a good time, we decided we would always stay on property in the future for the Disney transportation and the magic hours, etc. We then stayed at the Pop which was great for the price, but lacking the romance. Our favorite so far has been CSR. We loved the pool and had no problems getting off the resort for nightlife at Pleasure Island/DTD, plus the grounds were beautiful.

However... (dramatic pause)... we are most excited about staying at the Dolphin this April. We got a good deal on a room/flight through Travelocity which was offering the rooms for about half the price of anywhere else. At the Swan/Dolphin there are so many restaurants in walking distance at the resort, the Boardalk, neighboring resorts, and Epcot's World Showcase. Plus there is nightlife in walking distance at the Boardwalk. We think this is going to be our best trip yet! :cool1:

One more thing - we are also going to try dining more at the resorts which seem to be a little more laid back and romantic than some of the restaurants in the parks. (Though our favorite is le cellier) :lovestruc

Dolphin - great location more deluxe than the mods if the price is close. Cant do the dineing plan with this though.

CSR or PORFQ - both mods and are more for young couples than the rest. Can do the dining plan. CSR doesnt share buses but PORFQ is closer to DTD. Toss up here IMO.
