We are planning a large WDW family reunion in February and looking for suggestions for a resort which can accommodate us and hold a block of room for 25-30 people. Need a decent deal, I think the All-Stars are not what we are looking for and GF will be too much. Does WDW offer group discounts for rooms, would love AKL for a reasonable price $120-150/night or a moderate for $80-110/night. My wife is a teacher but we can only book three rooms at $149 for SD (I believe). Though we’ve been to WDW many times and I am looked at as the family ‘guy in the know’, we have never planned a large group event like this.

Ideas? Deals? Thanks for your help!

Have you tried calling about a Magical Gathering? One of the options when you call into the reservation number is "is your group larger than..." - maybe if you call them they could direct you on the options. I know with APs rates at AKL and WL can be around $120 per night, with our AP we got Boardwalk and Yacht Club for $200 per night. One of the "moderates" may be a good bet as they are a little fancier than All Star but not as expensive as GF. Another option might be to rent nights at a Boardwalk Villa, WL Villa or Old Key West. You can group families together, and then you'll have kitchen and common areas. Splitting the price between a group it may be very cost effective and the rooms are lovely.

We have thought about this for a little larger gathering down the road. I thought that the best bet money and variety would probably be POR because people could chose between FQ, Mansions or AB. Everyone could pick their own liking, yet all be close enough for meals, swimming, or just hanging out. Also thought the moderate with exterior entry would be better for visiting.

what ahutton said - call CRO (407-WDISNEY), as one of the options is for reservations of 10 or more rooms. Having travelled with large groups frequently, though, I'd suggest that you might want to consider splitting your party between 2 or 3 resorts so different tastes/budgets are all satisfied. With the ease of transportation at WDW, this isn't a problem at all, and it gives each small group/family some "separate" time.
