Best resort for 4 adults?

My husband and I want to travel with another couple. We are all in our mid 20s to early 30s and childfree. I think we would be ok all staying together in one room, but what would you suggest in the mod or deluxe range? And is it weird for two couples to share one room?

I don't think it's weird for 2 couples to share a room. At Disney World 2 rooms can be pricy so its a great way to split the cost. I will say that most standard rooms can be tight for 4 adults especially with sharing one bathroom. You could do a 1 bedroom villa for instance at the Boardwalk. It still sleeps 4 but you would have a ton of additional space. Plus the separate bedroom provides some privacy from the other couple. You would just need to decide who gets the bedroom and who sleeps on the pull out (which is actually a decent pull out IMO). I just suggested Boardwalk because there's some adult nightlife with Jellyrolls, ESPN, and some of the other restaurants there.

I don't think it's weird at all. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable sharing a room with each other.

My boyfriend and I have shared a room with another couple many times before at WDW, but we're very close friends and the stay was always 3-4 nights. Since they were short trips, we spent very little time in the room and most of the time out in the parks. If the stay was longer, we would probably get separate rooms.

Thanks for the info! I will have to check out the Boardwalk Villa again, since I wasn't sure if the pull out would be ok for two adults or not. I think we may end up sharing a room for only a few nights, then going our separate ways, so I think it might be nice to try out a fancier place (like the BW) for those nights, then go to a mod room when we're on our own.

If you are just looking for a larger room to share between four adults I would recommend Old Key West. The rooms at OKW have double beds so both couples get a bed instead of one of the couples sleeping on the pullout sofa.

Yep- 2 adults can sleep on the pull out! My sister and I shared one at BWV 2 years ago and my boyfriend and I will be on one together at BLT for 7 nights in Oct! We're usually exhausted by the evenings that we would pass out on a bed or rocks if need be! I just thought that 4 adults may enjoy some extra space to move around than you get in a standard room. That's why I suggested a one bedroom villa somewhere

If you are comfortable with each other then a Deluxe would be enough space, give you 2 queen beds and a couch. Pie in the sky budget, I would absolutely try for a monorail resort preferably with a Theme Park View (at least you only have to pay for half the bill. if & when you have kids and are footing the entire bill TPV becomes out of reach). Next would be Boardwalk, Beach Club or Yacht club, make sure you get park hoppers so you can end every night in Epcot. Another great option would be Savannah view at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
If you could swing a 1 bdrm villa and figure out a way that everyone could be OK with the bedding (one king and one pull out) then that would afford you some more privacy. Bay Lake Towers at Contemporary Resort, maybe the Grand Floridian will have their villas open when you go? Boardwalk & Beach Club both have villas. The 1 bdrm villa's at AKV have 2 bathrooms which is convenient (BTW, I'd totally say you'd pitch in an extra $100 for the king bed and master bath).
I just did a trip 5 adult women in a 1 bedroom at AKV (Kindani). It was plenty of space. My friend & I shared the pull out couch. Is it a plush and incredible bed - no. Is it fine for 4 nights and getting to share the World with your friends - definitely.

I don't think it is weird at all. As long as you are comfortable with the other couple then that is all that matters. Plus, who doesn't love splitting the cost of the room. I would consider the deluxe resorts since they have more space overall and both couples can have an actual bed as opposed to a pullout.

Make sure you know enough about each other. For example, does anyone snore? How often will the bathroom be used at night is an issue, too. Do you have the same sleep schedule? Does any one hog the bathroom with long baths or showers?

I think I would go with two, adjoining value or moderate resort rooms instead. You would get more beds and you would have two bathrooms.

I'm going to second OKW. It is a fantastic property.

You can rent DVC points and it becomes the same price as staying at a budget hotel. Cut that in half and you got yourself a pretty cheap vacay.

Also like the previous poster said you get two queen size beds instead of a pullout and a bed in the studio size. If you want to go to a one bedroom you are going to get 1000 square feet of vacation heaven.

My DW and I finished our last trip at the OKW one bedroom which we shared with her parents. It was fantastic I could not believe how big the room was.

Another bonus about OKW for adults without kids is people with kids view it as an under themed resort, and you tend to end up with a more mature crowd around you. I'm in my early 40's and find this to be a nice respite to the wild chaos you find at the budget resort pools

Go OKW and be sure to look into renting points if you stay at a DVC property, I don't follow the money as much as my DW but I think she said we are saving 2K on resort costs by renting over buying through disney.

You can't get the free dining when you rent, but if you have a one bedroom you have a full kitchen to work with.

Oh one more thing about OKW the balconies are fantastic for sitting on and overlook water as well as golf courses. There is a OKW lovers thread that will extoll all the virtues OKW has to offer.

blt for a 1-bedroom (you don't want a studio with 4 adults at BLT) - has an extra bathroom - so you get 2 bathrooms in its 1-bedroom

both bwv and okw only give one bathroom in its 1-bedroom

blt is great for the MK - you walk over and pretty great for Epcot - you can monorail over.

that say don't get it for studios or ak - both are long bus rides and for some reason instead of sharing with WL/vWL - cr/blt shares with polyn and gf - so that makes the bus drive long.................

same is true of BWV - it is great for Epcot and studio - don't get it for MK - again long bus drive - sometimes BWV shares with D&S - other times (generally when I go) it shares with D&S plus BC/bCV/yc - so even longer on the bus

You could also look into Swan and Dolphin. If you don't have to have all the "magic" and just need a place to sleep it's very nice and walking to world showcase and Jellyrolls is great.

Since it will only be for 3 nights, we decided on the Contempory (then we will part ways with our friends and DH and I will be staying at Port Orleans for the rest). I have always wanted to stay at the Contemporary but it has always been above our budget. I think it will be ok sharing one room for that short a time, and it will be nice to have such short commutes to the parks.

If it works out well, we may plan a longer vacation in the future and try to rent out a DVC villa!
