Best Rate Program is the pitts!

What do you mean by lifting the blackout on the seasonal pass. Do you just mean the the best rate discount is available for holiday season or did I miss something about seasonal passes? Thanks!

Fl residents can get either the Annual Pass with admission to the parks 365 days a year or the Seasonl Pass that has some restrictions. There are some blacked out dates that you cannot enter the park. Usually the summer months from say 6/11-8/18 (I think those were this years), then Christmas from 12/22-1/4 then the week of Easter. In addition to that, it doesn't include parking (but when you stay onsite it is free anyway). So what I meant by lifting the blackout dates, instead of blocking the Seasonal Pass holder until 8/18, they lifted the blackout & allowed them in as of mid-end of July. The only time Disney will do that is when they aren't doing the numbers they thought they would have. So by allowing the Seasonal Passholder in, they will come & spend more money..
They only blockout the parks, not the resorts. If you have a Seasonal Pass & you are on a blockout for the parks, you can still book a resort with an AP rate if available. We use to do this & then stay at a Deluxe & never go into a park....

This was just in my local paper..... found it interesting about Disney and the timing when the Best Rate Program was introduced.....~~~~~~~~~

Walt Disney World had flat domestic attendance in the third-quarter of its fiscal year, partially attributable to rainy weather, Prudential Equity Group estimated last week. In addition, rising gasoline prices could make tourists who drive to Orlando think twice about vacationing far from home. Drivers accounted for more than 70 percent of the domestic visitors coming to Orlando last year.

The figures released Thursday showed domestic visitors accounted for 95 percent of the tourists, or 45.2 million people. Florida residents accounted for more than half of the domestic visitors in 2004, and a quarter of U.S. travelers vacationing in Florida visited Orlando.
