Best Rate Program is History

I never said he wasn't a decision maker. He certainly didn't make the decision(s) in question.

Re-read your statement below.

I sometimes think it is very easy for people not making decisions to be hyper critical of those that do.

"of those that do" implies that he is "one who doesn't", wouldn't you agree?

Thanks Raidermatt and All Aboard, I don't think I need to say anything more on that topic.

As to Dancingbear, I don't have the resources to prove it (I bet I know who does ;)). but I am quite positive that through the mid to late 90s, Disney world maintained a 90% occupancy STANDARD with their resorts. you didn't need to reserve two years in advance because Disney was inefficent.

You know what they say about statistics.....the occupancy rate can be easily manipulated...

We were at All-Star Music for a week the end of September 2001, one of the lowest attendance times in recent memory; yet, in checking in to the resort, I was told they were near 100% occupancy! Turns out, 5 of the 10 buildings were closed for 'maintenance', so yes, the remaining 5 buildings were close to 100% full....

Lies, damn lies, and statistics.

Well, yeah, but the thing is, DIsney didn't start closing down wings of resorts until very very recently.

Here, an article from 1983
The 2,300 Disney-owned rooms and villas on the property as well as another 2,500 privately owned are all 98% to 99% booked, according to a Disney spokesman.
Travel Weekly, Feb 20, 1992 v51 n15 pD11(1)
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- This month's opening of phase one of Disney's Dixie Landings comes after a reported 94% occupancy in 1991 at two other properties the Walt Disney Co. terms "moderately priced."

Special thanks to my favorite former PacNorthwesterner for the info she didn't need to find for me.

Nope. I was merely addressing the the topic of the BRP. None of us were involved in that decision so cannot possibly know what actually occurred. I think if you all were to go back and re-read the original post I was commenting on would see that it was a pretty broad based attack on what is perceived as "stupid" decisions. What evidence was offered to support that position other than a reference to illegal activities at Enron?

Mickmouse...Don't beat your head against the wall.:scared1: What you meant was easy enough to understand but perhaps more descriptive words could have been more efficient. Case in point: It was my unfortunate (mis)use of "applaud" that got this mess started.

Yoho, how do you know wing closing is a relatively new development? How did they refurbish prior to this 'new' decision?

You know as well as I do that we're not talking about Refurbs here. We're talking about whole sections of resorts or even whole resorts being shut down to save money in the last 5 years. This is widely reported stuff, I'm not going to rehash it.

Disney had NEVER done that before.
