Best Rate Dilemna... Help please?

We have two rooms reserved at Pop Century for Oct 20-25 through the Best Rate Program. Our friend (who is the reason we chose Pop) may not be able to make the trip so we now may not need the second room. This leaves us with several questions: How do we cancel one room? Can you only call to cancel? Will we lose the entire deposit on that room or have a $50.00 change fee? Can we upgrade to a different resort and still get the AP rate since we are now at less than 60 days? Will anyone at CRO even be able to help us since we booked online through the Best Rate Program? Has anyone dealt with this type of situation that can give me a little insight?
Why, oh why do we plan a trip with anyone else??? :confused3
 
They no longer charge the $50 modifaction fee, but if you cancel one room you will loose the one night deposit. Why don't you call & tell them that you would like to keep the one room for those dates but move the other room to a different set of dates & see what they say. Then just move them to what ever time frame you think you may go again. Or asked them instead of the 2 rooms at a value can you combine them & upgrade to say the WL or AKL. If you go for a moderate, it will cost less & they may charge you the one night deposit. If you are increasing your rate, I don't think they will give you that much of a problem....
