Hi all, any advice for discounts or merchants? Looking online, we are finding about $766 to install 4 new Goodyear assurance CS tires for hubby's Escape. OUCH

There is an $80 rebate from GY though.

Thanks for any advice.

Last year when I replaced four tires my dealer (where I get most work done) said they would price match any written proposal from any tire company in 50 miles (but it had to be a real store and not just an internet dealer).

I sent a Request For Proposal to 14 stores giving a description of my car and the specific brand, model, and tire size, and got back responses from eight. I asked for an out-the-door price to include the four tires, mounting, new valves, disposal of old tires, balancing, sensors and all taxes.

I then went to my dealer and they honored the low bid. I the got a bonus, because Ford happened to be having a rebate of $20 per tire for that brand and model that month.

When I went tire shopping earlier this year, I found Cooper Tires had just as many good reviews as Goodyear, and was cheaper overall for four tires. I purchased the tires at Sears and then took them to my mechanic to have them mounted. I also had to do an alignment which made it overall much cheaper than going to a tire shop and having it done.

I always buy mine at tirerack dot com and then go and get them installed.

If you have a Discount Tire chain store near you check their prices. They beat everyone here.

Goodyear tires are junk compared to Michelin. Shop where ever you'd like, but there are much better tires for that kind of money.

I've had good luck at discount tire. and I have been happy with youkoma (sp) brand. I also know in our area a lot of tire places have been advistising buy one get 1 free.

I just put tires on my Pontiac Aztec for $500. 60,000 mile warranty & free rotation and balance every 6000 miles. They are 16 inch tires.

Ask your Goodyear dealer for a quote on Kelly tires, which is Goodyear's value brand. I put a set of Kelly Chargers on my Focus and I'm very impressed with them as daily driver tires. They'd not be anyone's choice for autocrossing, but they're smooth, quiet, have decent cornering grip, stop well and have excellent wet traction

i have always use Mavis because compeared to the dealer it was less then half price at Mavis discount tire if you have one near you . just ask for a price quote and they also have coupons in sundays papers to .

They are usually the cheapest around here- I just bought 2 new front tires and out the door was 340.00 and that was with an alignment.
