We have two short 3-4 day trips booked in May and October. Both with reservations at POR - we are a family of five and wanted a moderate resort standard room and that is pretty much the only option, right? I am getting a AAA discount which I think is 15%.

I would love to stay at a monorail resort mainly for convenience to MK but don't feel like the added cost is worth the benefit for our family at this particular time. Even with a AAA discount (only 10%, I think) the least expensive rooms at Poly and CR are at least twice what we're paying at POR.

It occurred to me that when we go in May we might be able to book for our Oct trip with the bounceback discount. I have not read that it has been discontinued...anyone know? Is 40% off rack rate about the best we can hope for? It would still be a little more than I'd like to spend but I think we'd do it for that discount. We are not FL residents or AP holders, btw.

Thanks!

We were lucky to get a 40% off postcard this past Dec so we booked our April, August and Oct trip with that. We want to get away in June and July (the code was not good for that time) and the AP FL rates are still so high, still almost $300 a night. In August I booked the Poly for $202 a night including the tax!

I believe the bounce back is only for certain dates and is only 30% for Deluxe resorts. It is only 40% for DVC places and deluxe villas.

Here is the link to Mousesavers which gives all the discounts

You are right...I read all that too quickly the first time around.

Well, even 30% is much beter than 10% AAA. Or maybe we'll get lucky and get a 40% PIN discount...probably not!

So according to my calculations, a standard room at Polynesian is as low as $400 rack rate in October. Is a rate of $280 (30% off) a decent deal? The least expensive CR rooms are a little more.

We always go value, so I don't know. We go in August and it is 82 bucks, so it seems like alot to me, but, the conveniece of the monorail is pretty valuable. If it fits in your budget I would do it.
