We are staying at OKW next week and if it warms up I'd like to take my grandchildren to a nice pool. Is OKW good enough for that age group? If not, what do you recommend?

The OKW pool is beautiful and should have plenty to keep the 3 & 4 y/o happy (sand castle theme - no sand ;)) If you do pool hop - I suggest SSR, either the main pool (has a zero entry area and 'donald') or the Grandstand pool (no shallow end, but has the world's best sprinklers!) & it's close to what you are. I think you'll like OKW's pool though.

I 2nd Iloveokw. at that young age I wouldn't go through the hassle of pool hopping. OKW has a brand new main pool and then they have smaller pools near the villas.

Could not imagine the hassel of hopping. OKW pool is really nice, he will have a great time. Have a fun trip

OKW does not have sand? In the DVC book it shows kids building sand castles?? We have to pol hop as our main poo is cloed and I was hoping i did have a sand area.

I had a great experience pool hoping. We were also at the time, staying at OKW. My kids were 2 & 4 at the time. We hoped on the boat at OKW, took the nice, leisurely ride over to SSR (where were are owners) and enjoyed the zero entry pool. We also took the kids into the arcade. Head over to the Grandstand Section and let the kids run around in the water jets. If you are up to it, you can change and hop back on the boat and head to DTD for lunch before heading back to OKW.

BTW, OKW does have a nice play area with slides and a sand bottom. Bring a long sand toys (or order a kids meal and they'll get a shovel and pail) and let the kids dig until their hearts content!

Good luck!!

All 4 pools at OKW have a small sandy childrens play area nearby, and a hot tub. The lighthouse, in the main pool area, has a small sauna concealed inside.

I agree with the above posters, in that you don't need to hop to be happy with young ones...they are happy where ever they plop down.

With that said, we are happy hoppers, and have used just about every pool in the complex, and I must say, they all have their benefits, and fun. We love slides, even the 4 y.o., and love to see their smiling faces as they come down. We really enjoyed Port Orleans and the French quarter, and the food court is right near by; have used Wilderness lodge and the kids liked the pool games they played there; Saratoga is great, food near by, splash area with Donald, small slide, plenty of chairs; In 44 days we are going to try out the Poly's pool...so we will have to let you know. Boardwalk's pool does seem to get conjested quickly, although it is nice to have a waiter come over and give you a drink; we have stayed away from the value resorts, as their pools are just large pools (have stayed on them before owning at OKW).

Hope this helps.

Have fun.

Cheryl

My son is 2 and LOVES the SSR pool. The zero entry is great for him, and he just loves the Donald splash zone. Also, they have a water slide for little kids. He thinks that is the best thing ever! Have fun!

As a lifeguard I would recommend Saratoga. With ages 2 and 4 you will find that other than the very small kid's pool the pools at Old Key West don't have any places they can stand.(besides the steps) The Zero entry pool at Saratoga is great for the little ones. It also has the splash pad and "kids" water slide. It is close by as well.

My little one loved the pool at BWV. We hopped over there from OKW - booked a lunch or dinner or something that direction so we doubled up the reason we were there.
