Best ponchos for rain?

I've considered these-I have a couple of questions-how easy is it to get back in the pocket? And how big is it folded up?

The first time I was very frustrated, but then I realized I had the poncho inside out. :rolleyes1 After that, not really difficult but best to do when dry. In the pouch it may be 8" long, and a couple of inches thick depending out how flat you can make the poncho, or how big of a rush you are in to fold it up.

I do like the pocket in the front. I have the black one and my daughter says when I wear it, I look like Batman.

Thank you....and looking like Batman is a bonus :thumbsup2

We use the Disney ponchos. Sturdier, reusable, and they've lasted through many trips. I hate the disposables with a passion- you get what you pay for. They're about as durable as a drycleaner bag, and cling to your skin like one, too.

That is a great analogy, minnie!

We had purchased the yellow WDW ponchos some dozen years ago. They lasted for years! Worth it, but then again, heavy to carry all five for us in my backpack.

We have the Disney ponchos and they are very good. We bought them at the parks one year when it started to rain. I think they were $10 each and we've definitely re-used them.

This year, I was thinking to get ponchos to match our MNSSHP theme. I would need ponchos in the following colors:
1. Magenta, dark pink or purple
2. Brown
3. Charcoal, dark gray, taupe, or dark red
4. Teal, light blue, or turquoise

Any idea where I can get $10 (or less) good ponchos in these colors?

I just take the ponchos out of their original bag and put them into a Ziploc bag and use that for future storage.

Is a poncho preferable to a lightweight raincoat (think windbreaker type)? I had the dollar store ones last trip, and I didn't love them!

This is personal preference and depends on the jacket - if it's water resistant, I perfer the rain jacket over a poncho, as it leaves me more free to move. Since my pants, shoes, and bag are at least water resistant, they're less of a concern, and I can use it to keep warm if the temp drops a bit, as well. I have a WDW branded one that zips into its own pocket that's my preferred rain cover for Disney.

I also wear or carry a brimmed hat (usually a baseball cap) to keep water off of my glasses. I can be soaking wet, but if I can't see, I'm miserable. :)

We usually use the dollar store ponchos-in the past they were good enough but for some reason this year when we bought one to have a look at them they were much cheaper feeling and much more like plastic wrap...and they weren't exactly high quality to begin with in the past. So this year we will be splurging on Disney ponchos because they're pretty good and if they rip they will be replaced for free.

I think I have a good idea about the rain...I purchased some Press and Seal today (Saran Wrap ...not the flimsy kind, but the new Press and Seal kind) and guess what? It fits and attaches to shoes really well. We will try it if it rains and see if it keeps our shoes dry!

Disney ponchos are great. We purchased our yellow ones 20 years ago and still use them every year. Tried the dollar store ones and they were awful. They don't cover you and the hood doesn't stay on and doesn't cover your face. I still take them for pop up showers but if it is raining or there is a possibility for heavy rain we take our Disney ponchos with us. Like others have said the Disney ponchos are heavy to carry if you are carrying more than one. We hang them in the room to dry and fold them to put back in a disney plastic bag for the next time.

The Disney ponchos are definitely better than cheap one, How much do they cost now?

Does anyone know if Disney will still replace a poncho of theirs that has ripped at no additional cost?

I find the ponchos don't help at all if it's a real rain and not the quick afternoon shower. I use an umbrella but I'm also from nyc and used to umbrellas in high wind so they work and last for me. I saw a lot try an umbrella and instantly broke them last week.

I bought the Disney ponchos. They really hold up well and are made very well.

DS ripped his this past trip (because he's not careful!) and they gave me a new one on the spot. No questions asked and no receipt.

I bought my wife and I some of the Frogg Togg ponchos at Walmart like these. I have used it several times and after drying out, you can put it back in the carrying pouch. They are the best I have found for the money.

I bought the same one last year, and loved it! It's much better than the cheapie "emergency" ponchos because it covers better, and doesn't cling to you when wet. I like it better than the official WDW ponchos, too - they seem sort of flimsy to me.

I actually bought a Disney umbrella from one of the stores - I didn't see them advertised but when I asked if they stocked them the guy pulled one out from under the counter as if it was some illicit purchase. I likes this better than the ponchos, but I'd say in terms of best ones, the Disney ponchos win. It's not something I would get from the dollar store or something because when it's pouring and you're potentially getting soaked, a good one can make all the difference between happy and miserable.

I'd get clear ponchos...I haven't seen all that wide of a variety of colors.

So if it starts to rain and we need to buy the Disney ponchos, do they pretty much sell them in all the stores or are they a pain to find?
