Best places to take a break in each park

We will be taking our first summer trip this June, we’ve only been one other time in October. Our boys are 8 and 12 and we are rope drop people. We are staying at Pop and don’t have a desire to leave the parks for a break.

Not knowing how the heat or rain and crowds will affect us though, I’d like to have some ideas of what your favorite attractions are in each park for waiting out the hot/wet afternoons whether it be rides or shows. We already have lunch ADR’s set up to take up some of that time. Where do you go to “relax” to get out of the heat or rain?

I haven't been to AK since it stayed open all day.
I always have hoppers and DHS wasn't a full day park (for me) the last couple times I went...

In the Magic Kingdom, Philharmagic, Country Bears, the Hall of Presidents, or Carousel of Progress are among our favorite places to cool down, and wait out the rain.

In Epcot, Living with the Land, Spaceship Earth, The Gran Fiesta Tour and moreover the Mexico pavilion, and the American Adventure are some of our favorite places to wait out the weather.

In AK, there are not many places to get out of the rain, or the heat for that matter. We have found the first part of the queue for the safari is covered, and the CM's there are usually more than happy to let you duck out of the rain for a bit.

DHS, we haven't been recently, so I don't have any suggestions there.

At DHS, even now, there are several shows to spend/relax an hour of your time. Frozen and Muppets are our favorite air-conditioned and comfortable seating locations. Beauty and the Beast is a decent place to relax but is just bench seating.

Any show is fine, out of the rain. We just go to the nearest one during a storm.

We look at the forecast and pay attention to the sky. If it gets dark we head for a show.

For heat, it's the same way.

At AK, I really like Nomad Lounge. We hung out there for a little while and got some drinks. It's a more low-key kind of place to hang out and relax.

Animal Kingdom both the Finding Nemo show, Bugs life and Lion King show are all great ways to get out of the sun. Dinosaur queue is mostly indoors too.

EPCOT: Living with the Land and a snack or meal break at Sunshine Seasons (plus Soaring if you can get it): any of the movies around WS: American Adventure with Voices of Liberty if the timing is right: Spaceship Earth if you're in that area and the queue isn't too log, since most of it is exposed to the elements.

MK: Pirates (even the queue is indoors), Tiki Birds: Country Bears: Hall of Presidents: even Laugh Floor... Carousel of Progress freaks me out so it would have to be pretty stormy/hot for me to choose that.

HS: One Man's Dream is an easy in: the Toy Story queue is in-doors depending on the wait-time: Muppets 3D: Star Tours queue is mostly in-doors.

AK: if the weather forecast is iffy I usually wouldn't choose AK for that day and can't think of any spots that are in-doors and easy to duck in to. The Lion King queue is covered: for a sit down meal break it would be Yak and Yeti.

We were at AK when it started to down pour hard. So we got in line for FoP even though it was over a two hour wait at that point. Most of the queue was inside so it got us out of the rain and there really isn’t much else to do in AK if it’s raining. The wait ended being just under two hours. We all agreed that it was a good decision for us.

I get that you don't want to leave the park, but I'm going to suggest it anyway, in just two cases. At MK, you can walk or take the monorail over to the Contemporary. On the floor where all the convention rooms are, you'll find a huge selection of large, comfortable couches, and any time I've been there, hardly any people around. It's my favorite place to decompress on a busy day. You can even get a nice nap if you want!

I have similar advice at Epcot: go out the International Gateway and stroll over to the Beach Club lobby. There are lots of nice places to sit and relax there as well.

Both of these are so close, it doesn't take much out of your park day, and you feel very refreshed after being out of the chaos for even a little while.

In Animal Kingdom the Nemo show is 40 minutes long. That’s a nice cool break.

I agree with the couches in the Contemporary. We were early for our pirates and friends cruise and we waited there for a while. It was quiet and relaxing and we were the only people there.
