Best Places to Split Meals

Obviously splitting isn't an option at buffets/family style/pre fixe places, but where are the best places in WDW (either counter service or sit down) where meals are large enough to share? We'd prefer not to be so stuffed from meals that we can't squeeze in dessert!

Sci-Fi Dine-In. 2 adults can split a burger and fries then get dessert.

I am going to disagree with pp and say that Skipper Canteen is not split-worthy. I think the portions are small! I don't think Disney portions are as big as they used to be. I'm thinking of our last trip and I don't think we split anything anywhere.

I thought the monte cristo at the plaza was pretty splittable, especially if you got a sundae or something for dessert.

That's a fair point. We find the portions large enough, but we also don't stuff our faces at meal time. And at the Skipper, we usually get an app and an entree to split, which is more than enough for us. But I can see how people that eat larger meals wouldn't agree

My wife and I split everywhere we go. It gives us a chance to taste more variety! We are more into lunches that dinners it seems. I like Sanaa, Brown Derby Lounge and we'll usually go to the brewery on the Boardwalk and split a salad and a fish sandwich and we'll have a couple of beers.

For dinner we'll do something like sushi at California grill or Boathouse at Disney Springs and split some apps.

Interesting.

Yak & Yeti - the house fried rice is listed as a side but it is a very generous portion. And it is very good. DW and I have shared this several times.

We did this at Beaches and Cream. The CM misunderstood, and thought we were splitting both, the burger and dessert, so she brought us one No Way Jose Sundae to share. But DH said'I am NOT sharing my dessert!"

May I respectfully request that we refrain from using language like "we also don't stuff our faces"... whether you intend it or not, it could be rather offensive to some since it implies something I don't think... at least, I hope you wouldn't... want to imply. I know many people who consider a wonderful vacation to include lots of indulgences, food and otherwise.

I personally find it difficult to say where people can split entrees because, honestly, everyone is different. I am more comfortable saying portions seem more 'generous" at certain restaurants... like the burger and fries at Sci Fi, especially if you are also getting a shake.... though I would guess most places the burger and fries and fairly generous LOL It does seem to me that portions in general, both CS and TS, have generally gotten smaller post-Covid in what I'm sure is a move to economize on Disney's part.

We had that for dinner on Sunday! We split it, thinking it would be like how it's usually served (4 hearty pieces like at Disneyland, Bennigan's, etc) and my husband was not amused when it came to the table the size of a regular sandwich and he would only get 1 half. He promptly ordered the bread pudding.

Both were delicious, but definitely not split worthy for us in the future unless we were already planning dessert.

It is probably better for lunch (& dessert) knowing that you have big dinner such as Ohana coming up.

Can you elaborate on how it might be offensive? It never would have occurred to me that the phrase might be offensive to some.

Sure.

From Merriam-Webster:
“Definition of stuff one's face
Idiom
informal + often disapproving
: to eat a large amount of food”

The selection of this particular phrase, by definition, could be construed to convey a negative, i.e. pejorative, value judgement. Within the context of this discussion, there is therefore the possible insinuation that if you ate an entire entree on your own, you were “stuffing your face” rather than simply enjoying your meal. My assumption is that is not what the poster intended and perhaps a difference word choice might have been better.

‘To stuff one’s face’ just means to eat a lot, so all you are indicating is that you want a light meal, as you do not want to feel full up (‘stuffed’). There is nothing to imply gorging, gluttony or greediness by others. Just an harmless expression like ‘my eyes were bigger than my belly’.
If you said ‘we don’t make pigs of ourselves’, that would be offensive.

Perhaps we travel in different circles and your understanding may be shared by others. However, I have only encountered it in the context of the Merriam Webster definition above, i.e. pejorative and judge mental.
But this is definitely OT so probably best to agree to disagree.

The recent thread on the lobster sandwich at Colombia Harbor House seems to be a trend in post-Covid Disney and a way for the Mouse to economize. Families which could happily share in the past may find it more of a challenge. At TS one alternative might be to select a few appetizers to share skipping entrees altogether.

Managing the finances of a Disney trip has become a real challenge! Food isn’t helping.

I saw the complaint yesterday and wasn't going to respond because I thought it best just to let Debbie Jean state her opinion and everyone move on. Now I check the thread this morning and it has blown up a little. But this comment from @Jangles is exactly what I meant. So hopefully no hurt feelings out there and everyone just move along. I make a lot of jokes on here (even though "stuff your face" wasn't intended as one) but never at someone's expense and never to try to offend.

You were replying to me and I thought you could have stated things differently, but I chalked it up to hasty posting, hence my subsequent reply.

Things can always be stated differently. I wasn't being hasty. I think some of us just have different understandings of what that phrase means, but as I said this morning, I'm never intending to offend or belittle anyone. Can't imagine I will use that phrase again (unless its in reference to myself, which hopefully shouldn't offend anyone). Regardless, its seems a silly discussion to keep having at this point and far off topic from what @ekatiel originally asked. So again I will say, why don't we all just move on ....

If we were to stop using all words and phrases that could be construed as negative, but are not inherently so, we would be unable to use a lot of words and phrases. And my Aunt Karen would need a new name.
