I was thinking about the $59 seats, but with a four year old who normally goes to bed between 8 and 8:30, it seems too much of risk to spend all that money and she's too exhausted to go. What is the best place to sit or stand to see the show? Thanks!

We've seen Fantasmic at DL several times. My best advice is to get to the area early - at least an hour or more before showtime on crowded days. Saving spaces for people is very difficult so everyone should be ready to sit (or stand) in your chosen spots if possible (take care of bathroom visits, snack purchases, etc. before settling in for the wait). There are no designated seats and everyone just sort of jams together. If someone tries to slip in after an entire section is sitting on the ground, they're at the mercy of people who may or may not be nice about making room for them to pass.

The best place to be is in the center facing the island. People in the first several rows will be instructed by the CMs to sit on the ground. This is a pretty good place to be if you have kids who won't be able to stand for long or see over the heads of people who are standing. After that section gets full, they put up a rope that marks the front of the standing section. That's where we had our best view ever last August. We were standing in the first row directly behind the rope. Everyone in front of us was sitting so there was absolutely nothing to block our view. We did get sore feet standing for all that time but it was worth it! :)

I've walked up during the show and stood off the side of the river/island to see it. We walked off HM and the show was just getting to the Maleficent part (my fave) so we walked towards the left side of the island (facing it from HM or CO) and we found a spot there, we watched the part I wanted to see and then we left. :)

I've seen the show from all angles. (I was a CM last summer and worked Fantasmic EVERY weekend from June through September.) If you arrive little late (but before the show starts) walk past the front of Pirates, up the hill towards Mansion. Just up that hill, in front of the center of the island is a light tower. The tower is not raised until shortly before the show starts. Many people do not realize that the tower will be raised and therefore do not stand at that spot. Once the tower goes up, it's a pretty good spot to watch, especially if you arrive a little late.

I agree with the previous poster. This works well especially during the week but on weekends, it seems like there are more locals at the park and they're hip to this "secret".

I like to show up for the second show at 10:25 find a spot on the walkway in front of POTC.
