Can you request a particular place to sit?

Is there a view of the castle?

I heard about sittingnear coconut races.

What do you suggest?

At peak mealtimes you probably won't have much choice in where to sit; Ohana is very popular and often fully booked.

The largest seating area is in front of the big grill. This is the area where most of the "action" takes place- the coconut races and the hula hooping. There are lots of tables near the windows, and you can see the lagoon, the volcano pool, the castle, and the fireworks from here.

There's a smaller section behind the grill. This area will be a little quieter.

We've had fun here no matter where we've been sitting. But we do enjoy being close to the coconut races!

I asked about that too when making the ps, and was told ask at the podium. I want to seat by the big grille cause we were by the window's and could not see the grille or festivities well at all. We could only hear the fun.:(

MKY :D

just remember that they are going in a rotation, and you might have to wait a chunk of time to be sat in a preferred section......and its a MUST that you tell them when you get to the podium, not when they show you your table :)

This was our experience at 'Ohana

I had made a 6:40 PS. We got there about 6:15 and DH checked us in. He requested a window table so we could see the fireworks at 7:00. he got a canned "We seat you at the first available table sir." DH looked around and noticed the restaurant was MAYBE 1/3 full and said, "Um, we are willing to be sat now, or will wait longer for a window table...really!" She said the same thing....DH said "I would like to speak to your manager please." The other host that was standing nearby jumped in and said "Sir, I am sure we can accomodate your request- we are not that busy right now" and he shot the hostess girl a "look." So, we waited about 5 minutes, and then our pager went off...we were seated at the far end of the restaurant, on the grill side, at the window...it was a table that sat 8 (there were 7 of us) and it was in the corner. IT WAS THE MOST AWESOME TABLE! The castle was directly across from us, we could see and the kids could participate in the hula hoop contests and coconut races, etc. It was the most magical meal of the trip. The fireworks going off made it all the more special...while I know they can't accomodate everyone, we were very happy with that table and view!

We stayed at the Polynesian the first week of June and ate at Ohana's 3 times (twice for dinner and once for breakfast). The first time I made the mistake of asking for a window seat. That added 45 minutes to our wait (we had PSs). After having been in and around, I don't think there is a bad seat there, and based on the chances of adding to our wait, I'd take the first available seats.
We loved all 3 meals!!!

Our PS was for 5:15 and they started serving dinner at 5:00. When we checked in at the podium I asked for a seat near the window. Our pager went off about 10 minutes later and we were seated one table away from the window with a direct view of the castle it was an awesome seat. I think if you have an early PS you might be more likely to get your with without waiting because they are just starting to seat everybody.

We had the same table as Alice28 when we were there in May. It was wonderful. We didn't ask for a window table - just lucky I guess!!
