The last few times we've gone Grocery shopping, we've gone to Goodings (I think it's the one in the strip mall down by I-4 near the DTD hotels).

Anyway, we've found them to be pretty expensive and just wondered if there are other alternatives? We usually bring our own dry goods, but still need to pick up perishables when we prepare meals in our villa.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! :)

Winn-Dixie
11957 S Apopka Vineland Rd, Orlando, FL (2.00 miles away)

Publix Super Market
8145 Vineland Ave, Orlando, FL (3.11 miles away)

Publix Super Market
2925 International Dr, Kissimmee, FL (4.11 miles away)

Wal-Mart Supercenter
3250 Vineland Rd, Kissimmee, FL (4.60 miles away)

When you come out from Downtown Disney to the light in front of Goodings, make a left and go several lights to Winn Dixie or make the right and go several lights down to Walmart.

If you plan on shopping at Winn Dixie, you can go to their website and sign up for their shoppers card. Publix doesn't have a shoppers card. I found the prices at both to be mixed, like some things were cheaper at one than at the other, but then other things were cheaper at the other. But both are definately cheaper than Goodings.

We alway use the Publix on Vineland. They are reasonably priced. It has never been that crowded when we were there and we can get in and out quickly. Goodings is just a tourist trap.

Just a word of caution if you try Wal-Mart: It is (or was) the biggest volume store in the company and is always packed. We went in June at 1:30 AM and they had 15 registers going, with people waiting in line! The food shelves are really hit and miss. Not much of a selection and it seemed to be always empty the four times we went. I did not know of the Winn-Dixie at the time, but we will try that next time.

We like the Publix on Vineland as well. It is across from Disney's Character Premiere outlet in the Premium Outlets, so we usually visit both in the same outing. We usually take a left on International Dr. from Epcot Drive after it turns into 536 (I-Dr is the last turn before this street becomes 417 and takes you back to the airport). The another left on Vineland. Very little traffic on this route.

Best of luck -- Suzanne

We go there too! Found the layout confusing but got it down quick enough! Plus, they have a ton of Disney Merchandise cheaper. So it your children are like mine and want those squirt fans, and POTC canteens etc. they have them.

They have pratically everything there that you can get at home, some are different brands but basically all the same. We aer driving down this time and plan on stopping there before check in so we can stock the kitchen!!:woohoo:

We always go to the Winn Dixie on Apopka Vineland. Good selection and prices are affordable.

Publix opposite the Premium Outlets is usually our main stop for food.

Claire ;)

Anyone try the Target on 192 in Kissimme? We're coming from Vero Beach to Boardwalk and was trying to pick up a couple of items and a little grocery shopping. Thought this would be our best bet.

We always go to the Walmart Supercenter on Vineland (only about 10 min. away when we stay at OKW). Usually pretty busy, but we always find a lot of groceries, and we love the Disney souvenir section as well.

we did the winn dixie last year, very easy to find and get in and out of, prices and selection are much better than goodings

What would be the closest store to The Timeshare Store? We are going down in Jan and will have a car to use to get to the store for the first time ever! We usually use a service. If they are still offering gift baskets, I'd love to stop in and pick one up. We will be at SSR and in a GV and 1bdrm for 5 nights, so we'll need more than just the basic groceries, but don't forsee needing a WalMart type store. Just a decent grocery store.

We prefer Winn-Dixie and especially love the savers card. We'll be there this november for our Thanksgiving trip.

We've gone twice to the supertarget on 192 in kissimmee - very good spot for groceries and other items we may have forgotten.

We just got back from SSR  The Winn Dixie is a hop skip and a jump... easy in and out, great prices, too. :thumbsup2

Unless you have money to burn, stay away from Goodings!:rotfl2:

Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions! Will definitely keep them all for future reference during our visits! :)
