I am begging DH for a new mattress - and since our old one is just fine, he's a hard sell. So I want a pillow-top king and it's gotta be a good one. And it's gotta be on sale. Where did you buy yours?

I just bought a mattress last week!! It was such a hard decision. I did some research and it is very hard to comparison shop b/c each store has a different name for each mattress.ie; the Sealy Lakefront Plush at Macys is called something totally different at Sleepys. I found a website that if you tell them the name of the mattress you like and where you saw it they will tell you their version of it. I did this with a Dealy from Sleepys and the wesites mattress was $600 cheaper. In the long run, I ended up with Macys b/c the sale was so good that it was cheaper than the website(by about $50, but hey, money is money, right?) The website is mattresshotline.coI found them extremely helpful the few times that I called. The also deliver for free and no tax. I don't know where you are located though so check to see if they deliver to you. Good luck. Oh, I ended up with a Sealy Lakefront Plush Euro-pillowtop. It's:cloud9:

If you present mattress is okay have you considered putting a memory foam pad on it? We did this 3 years ago and it is the most amazing feeling. I swear it is such a joy to move around on.

I am needing a new mattress now though and want a king. Our last sets are from Original Mattress Factory and I can't say enough good about them. All our previous sets were really inferior to these. I will go with them again for sure.

I'm not sure about where you live but here we haev a few big nice flea markets and there is a mattress place at them that sells blemished brand name mattresses. They have some sort of cosmetic flaw like in the stitching or in the cover but are structurely pefect. I have a set that is 8 years old now that I got here. It was $1500 in the stores and I got it for $600. I know lots of people who have gone here and they are all thrilled. Something to maybe look for in your area.

I second Orig. Mattress Factory, they were great to deal with, prices are good, and love the mattress!! Also check out Sams Club, they have great mattress prices as well and we were pleased with the quality!

Thanks for the advice. RNMOM, I have a queen now and it just seems so small, hence the upgrade. DH is a bigger guy, so he's always on "my side". ;) So I want a king, particularly so DD can climb in when she's younger and hang out with us.

Keep the tips coming!
