My 16y/o is a steak lover, he always orderes steak when we go out to eat. Our Feb trip will be his first time at WDW and I'm thinking he won't be with us on our trip next summer so I want to schedule some places where he can order a GREAT steak, not just good. Also if you know how many credits it would cost on the ddp, we are going to be on the dxddp in Feb so we can eat at some higher end places since the younger kids won't be with us. TIA

Yachtsman steakhouse!!! YUMMMMMMMMYY:thumbsup2

yachtsman - 2 credits
great meal!!!

not on the dining plan... but the best steak is at shula's at the dolphin. hands down the best meal i have ever had.

Shula's has the best steak, but since you're constrained by the DDP, Yachtsman it would be.

The most highly recommended steak is at Shulas (DDP not accepted). If it has to be DDP there are good reports about the steak at Flying Fish although they offer only one steak. I don't know about Yachtsman. I have a friend who didn't think their meat was worth it.

DH loves the Yachtsman, as mentioned before it is 2 credits and very much worth it!

We tried le Cellier in Epcot in June and it was 2 table service creidts for dinner. It was very good, but did not quite as good as we had hoped.

Also, Chefs de France had a steak with a peppercorn gravy that DH said was one of the best things he had ever eaten . it is one credit

Hope this helps...

Thanks everyone, this is a great help to me right before my 180 window opens! I want to make sure some of the places we dine have steak options along with adding yachtmans to the list of must do's.

I agree with your friend. I've had several of the steaks at Yachtsman and haven't been impressed with any of them (NY Strip, Porter House, or Filet). Now if I go with someone who wants to eat there, I get their lamb. (It is very good.) I like the seafood salad as an appetizer, but have yet to find any of their desserts that I care for.

On the other hand, I love all three courses at Flying Fish (tomato mozzarella salad or mussels for appetizers, steak for entree, and then a cheese plate or whichever dessert trio they are serving that night). They only have a char crusted steak on the menu, but it is better than any steak I've ever had at any of the other Signatures (Yachtsman, Artist Point, Citricos, Narcoosee, Artist Point, or Jiko).

For one credit we've gotten good steaks at Coral Reef of all places, Mama Melrose, Rose & Crown, Chef's de France, and Turf Club. I used to like the filet at Le Cellier, but the last few times we've dined there the food has been too salty to even eat. Le Cellier is one credit at lunch, but two credits at dinner.

For a counter service credit you can get a Mexican steak over at the CSR food court (Pepper Market). It's just OK though. It comes with black beans, rice, and a side of guacamole, jalapenos, and pica de gallo. It's more of a skirt steak, like you find in fajitos though. For a CS credit it's not bad (and they have really good chicken nachos over there if someone else wants nachos).

I agree with the majority and say that Yachtsman would be the place to go being on the DxDP when it comes to a steak. :thumbsup2

I'll cast my vote for the Yachtsman too. It's the first ADR my husband reminds me to make. :woohoo:

This would be my all-purpose, standard template answer to the "Best steak?" question, as well. Although I have heard good things about Turf Club and Flying Fish, I haven't tried their steaks.

Hubby and I are both steak lovers.
In Epcot, we had a great steak at Tokyo Dining. We also liked the steak at Chefs de France. Both just about melted in our mouths.
At Hollywood Studios, we liked the steak at the Hollywood Brown Derby.

If you are looking for a 1 credit restaurant, we had surprising good NY Strip at Kona Cafe. My parents had been to Morton's Steakhouse just before our trip and my dad said the steak at Kona was better than what he had at Morton's. He actually asked our server to pass that message along to the chef. It was pretty delicious.

DH and I loved the steak offerings at Yachtsman. Definitely one of the best steaks we've ever had anywhere (I had the filet, he had the NY strip). I also really enjoyed the filet I got at Jiko. It wasn't as good as Yachtsman, but I would have to say that I enjoyed my overall dining experience at Jiko a little more than Yachtsman.

Thanks everyone my son is glad to know that there are a few different places where he can get a great steak. Thanks!

:) The absolute best melt in your mouth steak I have EVER had in WDW has been consistantly served at the California Grill--well worth the 2 credits plus you get Wishes on the observation deck. We usually eat there twice on our trips and always get the Oak Fired Filet of Beef. My mouth is watering now.
