Best place for lunch at AK??

Calling on the experts as we are newbies to DW. We've only been once and that was 8 years ago before kids! SO, we've never been to AK and never with kids. What would you suggest for lunch at AK? I am trying to decide between making a PS somewhere or just doing counter service...not sure what would be best with 2 kids...ages 7 and 3 and what restaurants are best there.

THANKS and I'm sure we'll have lots more questions as we are in the planning stages for December.

Our favorite place to eat lunch at AK with our small children is the Flame Tree BBQ. Food is decent and there is nice outdoor seating where you can sit by the water and watch the animals.

We love the Tusker House by the safari. They have a delicious salmon dish and a delicious rotisserie chicken dish. You get sides like green beans and mashed potatoes. It is a lot different from the normal fast food fare served at the other counter service places around the world and I think it is very reasonably priced.

I really look forward to eating there each trip. Since it is next to the safari, we grab a FP time and then eat lunch while waiting for our time to come up.

We also love the Flame Tree BBQ. There were some interesting birds (some pretty large) hanging out in the seating area. The kids loved watching them. And it was shaded which was nice.

That said, when we head down this week we plan on trying Tusker House for lunch .

I think you can't go wrong with either of those.

I'lll just add I was looking forward to the BBQ place, but it was too hot for me, I needed air conditioning at that time, so we ate at Tusker house!

We like Pizzafari. Good selection, counter service, air conditioned. Also the paintings on the walls are amazing. Check out the ceilings too. The atmosphere is fun, particularly for kids that age. The food is very good too.

Another vote for the Flame Tree. Eating outside is nice and has never been crowded when we've been there.

We love to sit by the river under one of the pavillions. We also enjoy their food.

We enjoy lunch at RRC. Another option is to plan the last breakfast PS at Donald's and have a brunch type meal then. It's a great buffet and the characters are really good.

You might go to www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm and check the menus at AK. We have eaten at the Rainforest Cafe, Tusker House, Flame Tree BBQ and Pizzafari. We didn't care for the pizza at Pizzafari, but liked the three other places. I think the kids might enjoy the RFC or Flame Tree BBQ(sitting beside the water) most.
