We're heading to MK tomorrow with my dad, who can walk, but has a bad knee that has just gotten worse since we've arrived. He can't walk long distances, so has decided to rent an ECV vehicle at MK. I've got 2 questions:

1. What time will the rental spot open at MK? We're there for an 8:00 CP reservation, and it's EMH in morning, so I wonder if it'll open at 8:00 or 9:00

2. What is best parking option? Handicapped lot? Can I drive to transport centre and drop off? Or will I be early enough to get a better spot in the regular parking lot?

Really worried about the day, and am trying to figure out best option, to make the best if the day.

Thanks for any help!

2b. Or will I be early enough to get a better spot in the regular parking lot?

1. Open by 8:00AM.
2a. Yes, but it is at a specific designated drop-off location. Ask as you enter the lot.
2b. Arrive by 7:00-7:15 and you will be.

You can probably explain the situation to the parking attendants and they will let you park in a regular space near the handicapped parking (unless you have a handicap sticker). At the parking spaces there are wheelchairs available to use to get into the park(the are free but you wouldn't want to use them all day- the are called courtesy wheelchairs and have no cushion in the seat). Once you get into the park they should have the rental place open when the park opens for EMH. You may just want 2 of you to rent the ECV and the rest of you to head to Crystal Palace and check in.

Each of the parks actually have these beside their handicapped parking but the later in the day you get there the less likely there is to be wheelchairs available. When you go to leave the park and turn in the ECV you can ask for one and take one back out to the parking lot and leave it for someone else to use at the covered spot where you picked it up in the morning.

Also there is a length of stay ECV pass so if you are going to more parks you may want to look into that instead of renting by the day.

The handicapped parking at TTC (MK's parking lot) is not very close to the monorail/ferry stations.

So, would be better to hope for a good spot in regular lot and an available wheelchair?

No. There is no option for taking wheelchairs or scooters on the parking lot trams, so if you park in the regular lot, then he will have to walk to the tram (which can be a long walk, if you get parked at the wrong end of a line of cars) Then he will have to walk from the tram drop-off to get to the monorail or the ferry, which is actually a pretty good hike also. The courtesy wheelchairs are located in the handicapped lot. We always park in the handicapped lots (I am on oxygen so have tanks with me!) The MK handicapped parking is the farthest/least convenient for sure but that is mostly because it is the transportation center instead of the park entrance. All 3 other parks have handicapped lot close to park entrance, though it can still be a trek to where you rent the scooter. Have you considered renting a scooter from outside vendor...they have small ones that can be taken apart quickly and fit in trunk of car. Then he would have the scooter from the parking lot all the way. Cheaper than Disney scooters, easier to drive too. The outside vendor, like Apple Scooters, will deliver and pick up the scooter from your hotel...you can book it to be delivered before you get there and leave it at bell desk for them to pick up at the end of your stay. Can cost a lot less than Disney park scooters--and you're guaranteed to have the scooter available. Disney parks do sometimes run out of scooters, especially at the MK later in the day. So if you leave to take an afternoon break, and come back in the evening, there may be no scooters available in the evening. This has happened to us more than once.
