Best park for a Sunday? (6/25/06)

Hi all,

Looking for opinions on a good park for Sunday 6/25 in terms of crowds. I'm thinking about Blizzard Beach? The kids would like the Magic Kingdom but I'm afraid a Sunday there with extra evening hours and Spectromagic twice that day would make it a zoo.

Both water parks have extra morning hours for June 1-30. Does that mean it opens at 8 am? Regular hours are 9-7. When a water park has extra evening hours, and closes at 7 normally, how late is it open?

Thanks very much!

We have always felt and noticed EPCOT was the best park on Sunday. The crowds seem to be less on Sunday at EPCOT and this is espeically true in the school months.

You will hit "local' crowds in the Water Parks on the weekends...so if your main objective is beating the crowds...I would shy away from both Blizard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon!

I hope you have a great trip!

Ooops...sorry, forgot the 2nd part of your question. Here are the exact hours for EMH for the water parks during your dates. I have never seen EMH for evenings at the water parks...just for the AM...and could not find any information to the contrary.

BLIZZARD BEACH

June 1 - 3 -- 9:00am - 10:00 AM

June 4 - 30 -- 8:00AM - 10:00 AM

TYPHOON LAGOON

June 1 - 3 -- 9:00am - 10:00 AM

June 4 - 30 -- 8:00AM - 10:00 AM

Took me long enough to come back to this thread! Got caught up with all the end of school year activities :guilty:

Thanks for the replies and help. It looks to me like Animal Kingdom and EPCOT would be the best choices for a Sunday. Undercover Tourist had a red light (if I'm reading it right) for Sunday at MK. Darn!

I don't know still. We have plus tickets left over on old passes so we might end up at Blizzard Beach or Disney Quest :confused3 The kids would probably want to do Magic Kingdom more than anywhere but I'm afraid it would be so crowded it would be unenjoyable.

Yes, we are nuts and yes, it is predicted to be a crazy day.

Why are we doing this ????

Well, we are going with a 1st timer family with little kids and the first thing they want to do is see the Castle, and take things at an easy pace.

We are going to keep a positve attitude. I have informed the other family that it will be CRAZY on this day, but we are planning on coming back for a full day later in the week, so we plan to take things nice and easy and eat a character dinner at Liberty Tree.

I can't wait to see the magic of Disney through their eyes. Their kids are sweeties.

Happy planning! Think positive!!!

bbump - thanks for the reply :) Have a great time at the MK, with your attitude I'm sure you'll have fun.

I've considered doing it too. It really is coming down to BB or the MK because it's what my kids would most like to do also.

We spent several days at the MK last fall though and the kids haven't been to BB, along with already having tickets, so BB has the edge now.

Hope your group has a wonderful vacation!

My advice is to definitely avoid MK on Sundays if you don't enjoy being part of a massive crowd.

We always do MK on our first full day which is Sunday. We get there at opening and ride until lunch, eat and then head back to the hotel. :)

Your best choices would be either Epcot or AK. We are doing AK on Sunday this time around. Ou plan is to avoid EMH when at all possible. The crowds are tremendous even with just Disney resort people there. Since Most of the hotels are booked for our stay we know it's going to be even worse. WE try to go to the park that has an EMH the day before or after. It keeps people away. Also keep in mind that Locals visit MK on the weekends. Blizzard Beach also sounds great but locals also go on the weekends. We are doing BB on a Tues and 1/2 day at TL on a friday morning.

Our family tradition is to always have breakfast at CRT on our first full day which is always on a Sunday. So, we are always at MK on Sunday's. I have not noticed that big of a difference on Sunday from any other day.

If you decide to go on a predicted crazy day, stay away from the crowds by visiting attractions that are off the beaten track (we discovered Tom Sawyers Island last time and it was a nice getaway from the crowds)
Adventureland didn't seem as busy either, you can take a break in the A/C by singing alot with the birds in the Tiki Room (ha ha)....
Tomorrowland always seems to be the craziest area of the MK

LadyTrampScamp&Angel: Thanks for the kind words. I can understand why you would want to go to the MK on your 1st day (we havn't been to BB before, so I can't comment on that park) When families arrive, it seems like it's the 1st park you want to visit to get in the "magical" mood of it all.

Whatever park you decide to visit, have a great time!!!
Keep in mind that even a crazy day at the MK is more fun than a regular day at home. If you encounter any rude people, smile and wave and don't let anything take the smiles off your faces!!!!

The touring sites posters gave above definitely favor AK for our Sunday. It's an idea but we've been there recently (well, 6 mos ago recently) and I keep thinking it's going to be so hot there in the summer.

Anyone else think AK is hotter than the other parks? It seems like less spreading shade trees, lots of dusty, hard surface kind of pathways.

Expedition Everest has opened since we were there though so it's still in the running . . .

I know I'm spending way too much time on this!
