What, in your opinion, is the best park or location (ex. DTD) in WDW to visit at night? Downtown Disney is great because it's so lively and brightly lit. What's your favorite?
For most of the year, I would probably pick EPCOT since all the countries are so beautiful at night and Illuminations is spectacular. At Christmas, though, I've got to go with MGM if they have the Osborne Lights up.
We absolutely fell in love with MGM at night about 6 years ago. We used to come down to disney once a year at the end of June through the July 4th weekend. The MK was our last night routine each year until one year we decided to go to MGM. The music and atmosphere just bowled us over. We decided to make that our last park destination. Fantasmic makes it even better than before. The music in the park at night is very nostalgic and with all the old streets and buildings there is nothing better.
If I had a nickle for every time I walked over that fiber optic-embedded pavement and thought "I can do this!" Heck, I'd have enough money to do it.
Dining options are pretty good in Epcot, too. And Illuminations is great. What I want to know is who's the guy that went to the Disney accountants and said "I need a boat. A boat with tens of thousands of small video displays. Shaped like a globe. And it needs to shoot fire." That guy's gotta be smooooooth.
Overall, I vote for Epcot also, BUT...DS saw the castle for the first time(o.k. 2nd, he was 10 mo's the first) on July 4th at 9p.m. He could not take his eyes off of it. From the moment he saw it from Main street 'till we took a spot for the fireworks he kept watching it change colors and the fireworks, that will always be my best experience at a park at night.
