Best Option for HDDR in December?

Hello,

I'm getting ready to make ADRs on Monday for our December trip, and just when I thought I had it all planned out my brain took a different path . Here are my potential (depending upon availability and the dining gods of course) options:

12/4: MK on a party night - early BOG dinner - OR later HDDR
12/6: No park day, Christmas Party that night - early dinner at Ohana -OR early dinner at HDDR
12/9: MK on a party night - early BOG dinner/later Ohana/later HDDR

Those are definitely our MK days. I have two kids (7 and 11 mo at time of travel) so the early closure at MK works better for us. We're taking an off day on our party day to make sure they're well rested and can have fun while at the party. My 7 year old desperately wants to meet The Beast, so that puts us with an early BOG dinner reservation on one of the evenings. Ohana is a must do and I thought it would be a good option for before the party, especially since it's just a monorail ride away. And HDDR just looks like a lot of fun but I know travel time to/from and the length of the show may become an issue.

Does anyone have experience with these? Anyone care to offer ideas on the best way to maybe schedule these? Or try to schedule them anyway. Our other maybe was CRT but I don't have high hopes of getting it. We're a party of 7. 5 adults and the two kids mentioned above.

Do not try to cram it on on your party day, no way.

either of the other days would work though. Right now the 6:15 show is MIA so you'd have to do the 8:30 show if you wanted later... not sure how that will fly with your little ones, it would be too late for mine. I am targeting the 4pm show on 12/9 myself even though it cuts our last day a bit short at the MK, I think by then we'll be tired.

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I'll try to schedule it at the end of our last day since we'll be at MK anyway. Sounds like a fun way to end a trip and I definitely don't want to be stressed on party day about getting done and not missing any of the party. The 6:15 would be ideal, but I've seen on different threads where it's nowhere to be found . 4:00 may be a bit early but we'll all be so exhausted by then that it wouldn't be a bad thing to have a shorter day and an earlier dinner. Lots to think about!

I saw a post today by someone saying they did get a 6:15 ADR at HDDR for early December. I trust it is true.
I looked and my October show is still MIA.

It has been unavailable most of September and all of October and November. The other post I saw today stated they got an ADR for 6:15 on 12/2. It looks like it may be going back to normal.
CM's told me they could see that it was not bookable and that it was NOT FULL. They could not explain why.

How about...

12/4 Ohana on the party night when you have to leave the park by 7:00 anyway. Take the monorail straight over after you leave.
12/6 Since you can get into the Christmas party early at 4:00PM, I would do BOG dinner first thing when you enter MK on this night.
12/9 Again since the park is closing early, I agree HDDR would be great.

Oh I like this plan too! Options are always a good thing, especially with how hard it's been to get ressies lately (from what I've been reading anyway). Thanks for the input!

My 180 day was Monday so I wanted to update on what I ended up doing.
I have an 8:30 Ohana on Sunday. We have to leave by 7 and will be at MK anyway. It's a little late so I'll try to push it back over the next few months but I'm glad I got it.
We're doing at 4:10 dinner at Skipper's Canteen on our party night. My only concern is I only have party tickets for this day so it'll be a stretch getting into the park and back there in time.
And I got the 6:15 HDDR for our last night! Super excited for this one.
I couldn't get any BOG for dinner, but I did manage a lunch ressie one day so that will just have to do.
