Hi,

We are just starting to plan our first trip to WDW for this summer, staying in the park.
Travelling will be my family (2 adults and 2 kids) and my twin sisters family (2 adults and 1 child). We are unsure if we should do a large accommadation (like a villa) or just get 2 adjoining regular resort rooms. We thought it may be nice if we want to switch off babysitting one night each that a villa would be better.

A couple questions I need help with

Which resorts will allow 4 adults and 3 children?

Will we be able to be sure to get adjoining rooms if we stay in a regular resort room?

Will it cost more to do one villa?

Anyone who has experience please feel free to give me your recommendation

TIA :)

try renting points for a 2bedroom villa probably your cheapest bet and with the best accommodations.
Otherwise you will for sure need 2 rooms somewhere..maybe POR alligator bay
or family suites over at ASM

What is renting point? I have seen posts about it but am really confused how it works? How do I know how many points I need? Can you still do the dining plan booking your room this way?

First off, Welcome to the DIS. Y:cheer2: ou have found the right place for help planning your trip.
You will find lots and lots of information about renting points on the DVC Boards here on the DIS. Scroll down and you will see them.
I will try to give you a little info too.
DVC is basically Disney's Time Share resorts. People "Own" points and are able to use those points to make reservations at the various DVC Resorts. When you Own points at a specific resort you can make a reservation at that resort 11 months in advance. They can make reservations at all other DVC resorts at 7 months in advance, based on availability. Point requirements vary by season and the size of the unit being booked. There is a point calculator to help you know what you will need.
Now to rent points you need to make an agreement with a DVC Owner. The Owner would make a reservation for you for your dates. The Owner would be able to add the Dining Plan to the reservation. The Owner "Owns" the reservation until the moment you check in. You would not be able to contact Disney about it yourself, only the Owner can do that.
The arrangements varying depending on the Owners requirements, but you would sign a contract with that Owner. It takes trust between the two parties. If something goes wrong, Disney will not intervene or help, the deal is between you and the Owner.
You must be very certain of your dates well in advance, and you will not be able to change them once you make your contract. You will most likely need to pay in advance. There definitely would be a penalty if you cancelled, as the Owner would loose their points.
I am sure that you can get more information on the DVC boards.
Good Luck in whatever you decide to do.

personally, unless you and your sis' family are very very close and don't mind being "on top" of one another, i would go for separate rooms in the same resort, requesting connecting or adjoining (connecting means they have a door between them, adjoining means next to or across from one another)... another option to give you a little "hanging out" space would be for one family to get a standard room and the other to get a suite at the all star music resort...

as far as renting points and getting the dining plan, it is my understanding that you can combine the two...

I don't know the ages of the children, but something you may want to consider is that the kids may need a little quiet time at night away from each other. I know that when we travel with my brother who has only 1 child (I have 3) that it is sometimes a good thing to let each family have a little privacy/ quiet time first thing in the morning or later at night. If this is the case, connecting rooms at any resort would be good.

That said, I haven't ever stayed at a DVC villa, and it might would be nice to have a kitchen and a place to sit at night. At least all of the options you are looking at have 2 bathrooms! That is always a must!

Sorry I couldn't be more help!

for our 2004 trip, there were 4 adults and 3 kids - DH, DD, me; DMIL; and brother, wife + 2 boys. We got adjoining rooms at Pop Century and that worked out very well for us. A little cramped, but we weren't in the rooms much anyway! Good luck! :goodvibes

Just a little something else. If your budget allows and kids are younger I'd recommend the Poly or WL without hesitation. The Poly rooms are large and have 2 queens and daybed and you can get them connecting. Resort is great with zero entry pool and fireworks over the lake and castle visible from the beach at night. Biggest plus for us with small kids is you just walk on the dock jump in a boat and get there quick. Same thing for breaks/ naps/rests and probably in hot weather you'd want a swim break in the afternoon. WL is a little more economical. We've never stayed there but have visited and I hear good things. It has wonderful theming. We've also stayed at POR and that would be really nice too, just don't get that bop back and forth perk that the MK resorts offer.

OH YEAH!!! If kids are older they have Neverland club (WL has Cub's Den). Our kids go here and love it once a trip so Parents can have Date night! (You could have adults night out!)

I would suggest a 2 bedroom DVC villa. Also, depending on whether one child can sleep in a pack n play, the Cabins at Wilderness Lodge or the Family Suites at the All Stars might be an option as well. Good luck!
