Going during peak season we are deff going to be using max pass and have a game plan... but when the crowd gets to much and my 5 year old just needs to play where can we go?

In DCA, If your child likes Disney Jr, the Disney Jr Dance Party is a lot of fun, multiple shows throughout the day. It's Tough to Be a Bug is also fun and never a wait.

In DL, the Mickey and the Magical Map show is fun, several shows throughout the day Friday through Monday only (in the theater over between IASW and Toontown). If your child likes Star Wars, the Star Wars Launch Bay is cool and you can meet Darth Vader, Kylo Ren and Chewbacca. You can also participate in the Jedi Training (must sign up in the morning) or just watch, it's fun to watch and kids watching can all sit down in the front. It's always fun to ride the train if the wait isn't too long... Tomorrowland station seems to usually have the lowest wait. We enjoy taking a trip around the river on the Mark Twain or Sailing Ship Columbia or try paddling the canoes. My son also likes riding the Main Street vehicles, especially the horse-drawn car.

The Redwood Creek Challenge is a GREAT place to get energy out and take a stretch without getting in others' space bubbles. Bonus points: there's only one in/out, so with older kids you could conceivably let them explore on their own. Not necessarily now with your 5yo, but if/when you come back in the future :) It was the first place we let our daughter roam free when she was like 10yo.

Toon Town is another good place--not as much personal space (seems more crowded), but lots of things to do for large muscles (climbing, crawling, etc).

There used to be a little sprinkler area in Bugs Land. I assume its still there.

When the crowds get unbearable, that's when we also try to take in shows--Mickey and the Magical Map, the movie previews at Magic Eye and Its Tough to be a Bug theatres, Tiki Room, a story at Princess Fantasy Faire, Great Moments with Mr Lincoln, etc.

It sounds like fun for our family.
Is the Disney Jr Dance Party the only dancing option for kids in the parks?

I'm not familiar with another "dancing" type show. To be fair, the Disney Jr Dance Party is some dancing, some sitting, some standing, some cheering. Characters will come out and interact with the kids briefly. It's very cute and nice for the adults to be able to sit down for a bit (on the floor).

Oh, I just remembered that I forgot Turtle Talk Woth Crush! Another fun little interactive show that rarely has much of a wait.

Yes! The whole Animation Building is great for a rest. Quiet, dark, and cool, with places to sit. My kids ran around in there and looked up at those big screens, and I just SAT. It was a pretty great moment for my feet.

DS always loves the Main Street Cinema. It's cool, dim lighting and six (?) classic cartoons playing on repeat. A perfect place to escape the heat, noise and crowds.

Redwood Creek Challenge is great. We did it last time with the kids and the adults had fun there too. Whenever we are there there is usually not many people there so we sometimes race to get from one spot to the next. It definitely helps burn some calories of all the food we eat while at Disney.
