Best "No Characters" Breakfast in Disney

I'm trying to plan a nice, relaxed trip to WDW for DH. He loves to have a good breakfast in the mornings. I'm looking for something that would have a brekkie? Right now I'm looking at breakfasts at the Grand Floridian Cafe, the Captain's Grille (Yacht Club) or Spoodles.

We'd prefer a less hectic atmosphere if possible. We'll be there 1/08-1/11 and are staying at Boardwalk Villas.

Thanks,

Jennifer

We LOVE Spoodles and Boma. My 16 year old insists these two spots have the best breakfasts on the whole planet!

Ok, I'm doing this by food satisfaction first and foremost... :woohoo:

Kona is fantastic! (The easy access to MK via monorail is a major plus and the only drawback is the noise of the people waiting for Ohana's breakfast.)

Fresh is delicious! (Right next door to the Boardwalk at the Dolphin, which also has the bus transportation to the parks like a real Disney hotel, so easy park hopping and off the beaten DDP path.)

Olivia's is a local favorite! (Transport's a little trickier here because it's hard to get from one hotel to another and this one's at Old Key West, but it will almost certainly be a calmer experience than a park restaurant.)

Boma never fails! (Once again, the transportation issue and usually fairly busy even in the morning, but you might see the animals before they start napping.)

So those are my suggestions to add to the list you've already got. :thumbsup2 Good luck!

I'm confuzzled ... didn't I just reply to this same thread about an hour or so ago??? :confused3

Yes, I have a double post! Sorry, no idea how that happened. They're 10 minutes apart too! Even I'm not THAT bad with the 'puter.

I should have mentioned no buffets too. Hubby wants to sit at his leisure and have stuff brought to him. We're on the DDxDp so I guess Fresh is out, right?

Jennifer

Great breakfast, and not a buffet....but may not be on the DDP. I love the Rainforest Cafe (AK). The breakfasts are huge, and could easily be shared. There's something nice about having your breakfast cup of coffee served in a ceramic mug. I could do without the "atmosphere", but the food is so good (I'm not a big fan of their lunch/dinner menu) and the portions will fill you up until late afternoon.

Also, it's nice to be at AK at the opening.

Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Yep, Fresh is not an option on DDP.

Kona is a must do for us. But since you'll be at BWV, try Spoodles and Captain's Grille.

We've never had breakfast at GF Cafe but it's a lovely restaurant and we adore lunch there. I imagine breakfast would be fine too.

If you'll have a car, Boatwright's at POR is another good choice.

We really enjoyed Captains Grill...Food was great, loved our server and the atmosphere...

We did not like Spoodles...Our food was luke to cold when we got it because our server was very slow...I am sure it was just an off day...But that was our experience...

We love Whispering Canyon for breakfast the most!!! Fun atmosphere, a small menu but filled with traditional favorites...The food is really yummy and the atmosphere of the lodge is wonderful...A++++ for us!

I would suggest Whispering Canyon Cafe in WL.
It's one of our favorite breakfasts.

I would love Whispering Canyon too! The problem is hubby definitely does NOT like hijinks with his meal. (I learned about this one the hard way when we took him Lucky Chengs in New Orleans once. He was miffed for a week.) No characters, no hijinks, just bacon, eggs, and a lot of coffee. I'd like Kona as well but we may be eating there later that day and DH doesn't like stuff like Tonga Toast. It's the bananas, he's weird. I'm planning on having some when the kids and I go over Labor Day. I figure we'll be staying at the Polynesian and it would be rude not to ;)

I'm really leaning towards Spoodles because:
A. It's close to our hotel
B. They offer an AYCE breakfast. As much as he doesn't care for buffets, hubby does love an AYCE.
C. I decided we'd have breakfast at Captains Grille the morning we have to drive home.

I don't really care. I'm more of a Diet Coke and yogurt person.

Thanks,

Jennifer

You can request a table in the back of the WC by the fireplace because it is quiet back there...And ask your server to not do all the "hijinks"...Just say you are there to enjoy the food and atmosphere and would not enjoy the antics...

I agree that close to your resort would be nice...I hope you have a better experience than we had at Spoodles...Enjoy!

Boma is very good for breakfast.

Kona, good also, although they took our favorites off the menu, so we haven't been back since.

Over at the Swan resort they have a wonderful buffet, that is probably where we eat breakfast the most. Food is fresh, hot and very tasty.
Weekends they do have characters for kids (of all ages, lol).

1) Kona Cafe
2) Fresh (Dolphin)
3) Trails End
4) Olivia's

Do you need to make reservations months in advance for non-character breakfasts? We're staying at the Poly for the first time in Sept. and want to eat at Kona.

I did. If you know where you want to eat, there's no point in taking a chance on being shut out.

Kona is very good and to me, the menu at the Wave that just opened at Contemporary looks very good too, so be sure to check that out.

I seem to remember not being able to get a breakfast ressie at Kona, but when we were actually there when they opened one moring, the place was practically deserted. I'd definately call ahead, just in case.

Thanks..I actually called and made reservations at Kona (no problems, thank goodness, all the descriptions of the food& coffee sound fabulous) after reading your post. I also made a dinner reservation in Epcot and was very happy to get a good time slot for dinner at Beirgarten. Thanks again guys.:)
