Best Milkshakes at DLR

I was looking up some Gluten Free menus for Disney and ran across a place called Sam Andreas Shakes. It looked pretty awesome, but then it closed in 2010 to make room for CarsLand, long before we began our trips to Anaheim.

It got me to wondering, since I'm a pretty big milkshake/malt guy, where are the best shakes at DL? I've done one at Flo's V8 before - I think it was Cookies&Cream (which obviously won't work for the wife with Celiac Disease). It was good, but nothing special. So I'm looking for the Great Shake. Can you help?

Hmm...I eat a lot of ice cream at DL but not usually shakes. We finally tried the malts at Carnation Cafe this past march. My boys got chocolate and were very happy and DH got cherry. I tried his out and it was pretty yummy. My boys regularly get the Quake Shake at Ghirardelli, and they love that thing. It has a chocolate bar ground up in it.

I think I had the quake shake once. But I thought the ground up candy bar made it too chalky and candy overload.

We tried the cherry malt at Carnation Cafe for the first time on our last trip and we all loved it! So good! And everything at Ghiradelli is good in my book. I don't think we've ever gotten shakes there, but their sundaes are delicious and I can't imagine a shake being any different.

I had a Cherry Malt from Carnation Cafe on our last trip and I really enjoyed it.

Ghirardellis for sure. They are delicious! On a side note, we also found that the best hot chocolate comes from Ghirardelli as well.

More votes for Ghirardelli and Haagen Dazs. Also, while not technically a shake, the Chocolate Mooed at Jamba Juice is delicious! I believe there is also a Peanut Butter Mooed. Neither is listed on the menu (the DtD Jamba menu board is small), but just ask at the register.

Ghirardelli hands down. Had a shake for breakfast one morning on our last trip.

Ghirardelli uses plain old Dreyer's ice cream. Yawn. Same as every place inside of Disneyland/DCA. Dryer's (Edy's on the east coast) has ingredients my family can't have. Ghirardelli's hot fudge works for my family, but they haven't agreed to sell me a cup of it to take away. (yes I stop in there and check ingredients)

Haagen Dasz is the ONLY choice for our family for ice cream at Disney.

Does their ice cream have eggs? The ice cream I buy does not, and most brands I've checked do not.

Ghirardelli claims that their ice cream is a special recipe made for them by Dreyer's, so it is not exactly the same as the Dreyer's used at Gibson Girl or the kind you buy at the supermarket. Nevertheless, we agree with you that Haagen Dazs makes very good ice cream.

In my world, it's not ice cream if it doesn't have eggs. Haagen Dazs definitely has eggs. I usually buy that
