Hi Gang,
We are heading down to Orlando next week. Being from Canada, I'm hoping to do a little shopping while I'm in Orlando. Any suggestions for the best mall - Outlet or otherwise - to take DH and my 2 year old? Anything with kiddie rides, play area, kid-friendly restaurant, heck even those rides you put a quarter in and they move up and down will entertain DS while I shop...

Suggestions?

Kathy.

We're in the same situation but with a 4 year old. Good idea for a thread! I love those US stores that we don't have up here... pixiedust:

Best "upscale" shopping is Millenia...includes Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales and Macys...my 3 year old son likes to play with the kitchens and train tables at Pottery Barn Kids and he likes to ride the escalators...no playground or rides

Best outlet shopping is Premium Outlets...they have the kiddie rides that cost a quarter...also have a Disney and Universal Outlet store

Florida Mall...anchored by Sears, Saks and Nordstrom...has a play yard for kids...also has a Play Mobile store and a Build a Bear...my son's favorite shopping spot in town :teeth:

I keep seeing things about West Oaks Mall and that it has play area. Anyone know which is better for a 2 year old, Florida Mall or West Oaks?

Kathy.

West Oaks used to have a play area, Fashion Square Mall has a train that goes round, great for kids.
I would vote for that.

Belz Outlet has a carousel right outside one of the 2 Disney outlets in the complex. There is also a KB Toy and Osh Kosh outlet in the same building. Also, a food court with ice cream right beside the carousel. Can you tell I have been there and done that? My kids are now 9 & 11 and look forward to the Disney outlets. They bring their own souvenir money and know what a good deal is!!

Also there is a creek outside through the parking lot with a little bride and usually ducks to watch, good for adults to do the "trade off".

Did you read my mind??? :rotfl2: Mind you, our "trade off" is more like, "Daddy watches Gabe while Mommy goes shopping..." tee hee. :thumbsup2

West Oaks is not the greatest mall in not the greatest area. Milennia has nice upscale shops, but IMHO isn't particularly kid friendly.

Florida Mall is generally the most crowded (although West Oaks can get crowded as well) it's the alrgest and has a kids play area and large food court.

Here's another vote for Belz! The carosel, like already reported, is next to the food court. You can sit at a table in the food court and clearly see, and supervise your little ones. The tables closest to the outer edge is maybe a couple of steps to the rope that goes around the merry go round. Then perhaps fifteen steps to the Charater Outlet. You get WDW (yes, official WDW) merchadise there at great prices!

Have fun.

I'm sad to inform everyone that the Carousel at Belz is no longer. The owner of the mall changed and the lease to the carousel operator was not renewed. I understnd that the Carousel is in storage and is for sale.
