We have been to Castaway Cay a few times, but it has been awhile. We have always eaten on the adult side at Castaway Cay. We have never been to Lookout Cay but have been watching videos. It looks like the adult's side buffet on Lookout Cay is not very good based only on the videos.
1. How does the adult buffet at Castaway Cay compare to the one on Lookout Cay?
2. True-True looks pretty good, should we just go there instead of the adult buffet?
3. Any special food item that we should not miss on either one of the islands?

NOTE: We are going on a Disney cruise this fall that stops at both islands.

I thought they all served the same food on each island?
No. The food is not exactly the same on the islands. There is some overlap, but also different things on each.

We went to each island twice in 2 weeks last month. The lunches were different, but both delicious.

We preferred the food on Lookout. The grilled pineapple salad was so good. We came home and made it - we liked it so much! I also liked that cheeseburgers were already put together - speeded things up in the buffet line.

We enjoyed the dining experience on Lookout more. Easy to get a table to eat - which isn’t always the case in the adult area on castaway.

I know Lookout and Castaway each serve different foods.

What I was saying was- Each of the food places on Castway all serve the same food and each of the places on Lookout all serve the same food?

So if you eat at Cookies or Cookies Too or Serenity Bay its the same food no matter what

Only real difference between the adult and all ages buffets is the steak and the ambiance. It will be slightly more rowdy at both islands’ all ages buffets. True-True does offer a more substantial amount of local dishes than Castaway Cay, like pigeon peas and rice, snapper and more.

No idea. We only eat at serenity bay on each island.

We found the food on both islands to be very poor, it was mass produced, not fresh as stood around for hour or so before they opened and most of the hot food was not even warm

Before Disney opened the new places, the food served was always freshly cooked, turn up for a burger you got a burger ( or steak ) off the grill, not from a warming draw.

Did ask if they could make me a fresh burger, which they did took burger out of warming draw, it was cold to the touch

Yes it quicker now if you want a ready made burger, but who wants a cold burger that been sitting around for gods know how long

Now always go back to the ship for lunch

The main difference was the wildlife surrounding you. At Castaway there are very smart little bids that will keep trying to steal your food :) You get up to get some mustard or a napkin and when you come back a bird has your burger bun.
At Lookout it was flies - tons and tons of flies. We could not get a bite in without shooing away those darn creatures. Ended up having a few bites under a towel and then gave up and went back on the ship to eat.
I prefer the birds over the bugs :)
