My wife and I love the eating part of a Disney trip, but for reasons of health, $$$ and time, this year we want to have 1 or 2 "blowout" dinners over our 6 days there, and then have light meals at lounges on the other days. This is where I need the help of all you DIS vets (and lounge lizards:))

What on-site lounges (I guess for the most part I'm talking resorts) do you recommend for interesting light fare, a great atmosphere, and a beer for me and a glass of wine for my DW?

Thanks all...

Mizner's at the GF is the most beautiful lounge on property. It's on the second floor, overlooking the beautifully lit common areas, bordered by huge bay windows. It has a great wine list, and you can listen to the GF Orchestra play just a few feet away. Not many people know this, but you can order appetizers and even whole meals from Citricos.

The Bellevue Lounge at the Boardwalk has a similar layout. Its Scotch selection is fantastic.

I like the view of Bay Lake from the Outer Rim Lounge at the Contemporary. The baked brie plater (cooked at the nearby Concourse Steakhouse) and chicken wings are tasty. Make sure to order a Monorail Yellow or Space Monkey.

(In fact, a nice option is to barhop on the monorail line. Start at the Outer Rim, head next to the Polynesian's Tambu Lounge, and end at Mizner's. My frirends and I did this last year; thank God we didn't drive!)

Crew's Cup Lounge at the Yacht Club features finger food and some good microbrews.

some other options are the lounges around epcot...

one of our fav's is getting appetizers and having drinks from the lounge in japan while you watch illuminations out of the windows...

morocco has a little counter service spot with interesting food choices and good casablanca beer...

back to the hotels- the wilderness lodge has a very nice lounge off the main restaurant which offers appetizers and you may even be able to order dinner...

in DD you have captain jacks where you can get some apps...also in the rainforest cafe you can get a seat at the bar and order appetizers also...

all this talk is making me hungry....

Nope, no PSs needed for the lounges.

We too "drank around the monorail" on our last trip and plan to do it again in July. It was loads of fun.

Sotoalf, I have to ask, what is in a monorail yellow?

A Yellow Monorail is a fruity drink made with grenadine, bananas, rum, and some other stuff. It's only made at the Outer Rim and the CR's pool bar (Sand Bar). Consult their menus at wdwig.com. I typically dislike fruity drinks, but the Yellow Monorail strikes a nice balance between sweet and potent. You can easily drink three or four before they sneak up on you :)

Thanks for the info, I couldnt find any drinks when I checked on the menus. That sounds great....and the perfect drink for being in the Contemproary. ;)

I'll defer to others as to the light meal menus, etc, but beer-wise, I can comment. Most resort WDW lounges have pathetic beer offerings. Virtually no draft beer, and by and large the "usual suspects" when it comes to bottled beers. Mizner's --which I do like a lot--is one that has poor old Sam Adams as it's most adventurous selection.
Anyway--the Crew's Cup lounge has the largest selection (bottles-no draft) . Last time I was there you could get Dos Equis, Kirin, Blackened Vodoo, Red Stripe, etc
At the Territory Lounge you can get Honey Lager on draft.
At the DawaVictoria Falls lounge they have Tusker and Casablanca. They used to have Safari Amber on draft, but last time I was there it was gone.

Animal Kingdom Lodge's lounge is beautiful, quiet, dark - if you want to get out of the bright sun - and if you like red wines, try the South African Pinotage!

It doesn't overlook the animals outside but it's right off the lobby and you can walk out to several viewing areas.

Oh my! I just added the Monorail Tour to our November itinerary. I'm strictly a beer loving person, but the evening snacks sound great. Thanks!

On our last visit, May of this year, Morocco no longer offered Casablanca beer. It is just tragic!!! The CM hoped they would get it back by the fall. Lets all cross our fingers!

Does Mizner's still allow smoking? If so, is there a non-smoking area where we can enjoy snacks and a drink?

I dont know for sure, but I would guess no. The reason Im saying this is because there were a couple of people in our party who smoked and I know they left all the lounges we went to, to smoke outside. And I dont recall seeing anyone smoking while we were there. :D

No. Not anymore. I'm a smoker, and the GF has a lovely, overlooked balcony overlooking the beach, facing the Polynesian, at which you can smoke. I prefer smoking out there to indoors at Mizner's, actually - the view is unsurpassed, and you dont bother other guests.
