I just got my tickets, and a book of coupons came with it. Looks as though there are a LOT of buffet options around Disney! I am a buffet freak, so this is awesome :goodvibes

I thought I'd ask you experts which buffet place - that hopefully serves lobster too! - is your favourite. I've found some places with a dinner buffet under $20, but I think good food is better than cheap food, so please send some info my way! if the buffets are all pretty much the same, I will pick the under $20 ones ;) value is nice, especially for a poor student such as myself.

There are no WDW buffets that have lobster. The best buffet IMHO is BOMA at the AKL. After that, we have had good meals at a number of other buffets (but not so good meals as well). I think that CP in the MK, H&V in MGM, GG in Epcot, Biergarten in Epcot are all pretty good. We did not really like 1900PF at GF or CM at CR.

Thanks! But, to clarify, I wasn't talking about buffets AT disney. I really have no interest in eating at WDW, I'd much rather explore the area around Disney. So long as it's not more than a 20 minute drive!

I think you're selling yourself short if you have no interest in eating at WDW because there are many great restaurants in the parks and in the resorts. I think you should at least look at the menus on http://www.allearsnet.com and see if any of them pique your interest.

You might get better answers over on the Orlando Hotels and Attractions Board. You may want to try your question over there.

okay, thanks guys. I just thought my question would be appropriate for this board because it's supposed to be for restaurants around Disney too... I guess most of the people here are Disney obsessed... it is hard to ask non-Disney questions, because wherever I post something people say "what? off-site? stay at a WDW resort. They're much better." or, as has been noted in this thread, "why would you want to eat anywhere other than Disney?" hahaha... oh well. I will discover the rest of Orlando for myself. I am not much of a touristy/resort kind of traveler, although I will be spending some time at Disney during my holiday.

Actually, that's not the case at all. MANY people are unable/don't want to stay on site and I have never seen anyone on these boards be anything but supportive. I really think that it's unreasonable to be irritated... You're going to get people on THIS particular board who are inquiring/giving info about DISNEY restaurants. You were directed to go to the Orlando board because it would be a lot more useful for you. Maybe your frustration has been a result of your posting in less appropriate boards.

The Disney Restaurants board here on the DIS does keep its focus on the on site WDW restaurants. Our Orlando board does in fact have a thread stuck up on top specifically to discuss off site restaurants. I will direct this post over there so you can obtain further information. Good luck!

Thanks again everyone! and Kasmir, where did you get the idea that I was frustrated? Not the case at all. I thought I was applying to the appropriate board because under the headline for Disney restaurants it says "Disney area" so I assumed that included restaurants outside of Disney.

Really though, others have noticed too that most of the people who post here are Disney-obsessed, so sometimes it can be hard to get answers for off-site questions. Disney obsessions are just fine, but I want to explore the world outside the tourist trap too! :flower:

Most of the restaurants around WDW are really not that good, some are but they are few and far between. If you want to try some very good restaurants outside of WDW you will need to travel into Orlando.

If you think WDW is a tourist trap, wait till you see what's outside of WDW. :flower:

Someone just suggested to me, that you might want to try Angels on 192. I have never been myself, but someone else here may have a review.

this board i am posting under says orlando hotels and attractions. so ask away for non wdw restaurants. you are at the right place.

I apologize if I misinterpreted your post. The above statement seemed sarcastic to me, so I assumed that you were frustrated.

I agree that most people on these boards are WDW obessed - myself included! I was referring to your statements that people may question why you would have any interest outside of WDW.

When we travel to Orlando in Dec, we're spending five days at US/IOA (part of that time will be spent exploring Celebration and Orlando) prior to moving to WDW.

The Orlando board has a TON of great info on it! :flower:

Gaylord Palms has an EXCELLENT buffet. It's not cheap but it's worth it. If you're looking at price there are numerous places like Sizzler and Ponderosa that have inexpensive buffets.

Buffet at Baskervilles in the Grosvenor is wonderful, but there was no lobster when we went!

We went to a buffet in August at a resturant called "ANGELS". It was so good, I have to go back there onmy next trip. They had loster and shrimp and alot of other great tasting things. For and adult it was about $25.99. I think it was on 192 (the road that Watermania is on). It was really nice. :wave2:

Boston Lob. feast on International drive is VERY GOOD!!! Coming from the west its before Universal. It had a car with a BIG RED LOBSTER parked out front. Dixie Stamped is another really great place to eat at. Enjoy your hunt for outside rest.

so sorry,... but must respond to the topic just a wee bit...there is no where i would eat lobster in florida, or anywhere else but my home state,..............then again........i am from MAINE......lol :rotfl: used to getting it right off the lobster boats, after they just got them minutes ago from their pots in the cold atlantic.(aka traps) :earboy2:

Actually, the Key West area produces some nice Florida lobsters.

Between Maine lobster and Florida lobster, my wife and I prefer Florida. It seems to be a bit more tender and flavored than the cousins from Maine. :)

Hope no one takes offense! :)

well i never...flame flame flame....just kidding :) to each their own i say! born and raised on the coast of maine can't say i agree, but i say the same thing on apples and blueberries too from here :teeth:

i am very bias on my maine foods, lol....but i bet i might be able to make you see it my way a bit, if you, and dw were to buy it right off the boat, steam it with seaweed right on the rocky coast, with the sun going down, and eat it as the waves crash and break along the rocks...i think that the atmosphere might lend a hand to the whole thing.

but no matter where you are.... good eats to you all!!
