Best little known tips?

Hound 109
tell us about the dole secret :-)

From my one day trip report (which has fallen to the second page :() ;) :

Alec & I both love the Jungle Cruise because we both LOVE corny jokes...(& corny dogs)....the corny'er the better. After the JC, it was time for a fruity refreshment....& we happened to be near a place that specializes in such tasty treats. So we walked around all the people (who don't read the Disboard) standing in the VERY long line outside the Tiki Room & pretended that we wanted to see the show & entered the TIKI room outdoor waiting area. I gave Alec a 5'er to buy us a Dole Whip Float (to share) & told Alec to go stand & order where there was NO line. Funny....as Alec was waiting for his Float, others in the waiting area (who apparently didn't realize they could buy one on THEIR side of the booth) hopped up & created a line behind Alec. We sat & slurped up our float while listening to the Gods of Rain, Mountains, Thunder & other stuff....doing their schtick outside. It was actually a pretty cool little audio & visual show. When it was time for everyone to go into the Tiki Room show....Alec & I instead headed toward the exit (since Alec didn't want to do this unless he was with Mrs. Hound....since it's her favorite) & as we exited we waived to the Non Dis'ers still standing in the VERY long line waiting for Dole Whips.

As Ms. DangerMouse mentioned.....this is a "classic" Disboard move. :thumbsup2

I absolutely miss the Country Bears Jamboree!!!! That was one of my favs as a child. I can still remember seeing the the girl bear (and for the life of me can't remember her name) coming down on the swing from the ceiling. I have seen the heads mounted in Pooh's ride.....(also wiping tears!). We went to WDW in 2004 and saw the show there.......it wasn't the same, at least in the sense that the bears looked sooooo ragged and old!!!

I am lovin' this thread.....keep 'em coming.

Just a note the WDW bears got a full makeover they are back to their original glory!

Thanks Hound 109! I love the Dole floats and will be with a large group this time. I usually go at 10am in WDW otherwise you wait forever in line - there's no way around it there if you go later. This way I won't have to make everyone wait for me!!! :worship:

Oh I think of that bear (her name is Teddy Bearah [I have no idea how to spell her name]) whenever I see Pooh in his hunny air balloon. Besides seeing Max, Buff, and Melvin in the ride, other nods to the ride can be seen in the candy section of Pooh Corner where you can watch ppl make candy and at Hungry Bear where you pick up your food.

For a second I thought this was the single most important and helpful tip ever shared on this board, given how greasy the turkey legs can be. Then I realized that the bathroom run and/or wet wipes was to wash your hands.

So the turkey legs won't put as big a dent in your day as I thought...
I use an ECV or waddle slowly. Also I have sensory issues and being sticky irratates me to know end. I can get covered with ketchup but if it is sticky like where napkins stick to you then it is freak out time.

It is a time consumer as you have to go to the bathroom and that is a bit of a walk to the bathroom. With kids ooh the fun of sticky fingered kids. Not a big dent but when you are down to you last spoon in the day then you just do not want to deal with wasting your last spoon having to degrease yourself.

I do not have a warehouse of spoons so that is a big dent to me. Also it is not fair to vegans and others to be dripping animal grease everywhere.

Sorry, I think maybe what I was trying to say was either too subtle or not nearly funny enough. Please ignore my comment.

I am sorry but I am a bit touchy lately. I am over at disAbilities section of disboards. I cried so hard when I read about a girl who died because someone in her school cafeteria picked up the girl's french fries with the same tongs that were used on cheese fries. I read about people who touch a railing or table and go to the hospital because of allergies.

I am a bit touchy because people do not seem to understand how important things can be. If you have three kids and they are covered with turkey grease is it a big deal? For some parents it is a big deal. For a user of an ECV or cane they may not want to get turkey grease all over their cane or chair.

I give tips and advice and hope people read what I say and it helps them. Not everyone will use a tip and to some it is frivolous but to others it is a very important tip. I do not smoke but to the smoker the smoking locations is very important. To a mother the baby center is important but to my friend and I it is not important so I will go back to my perch for now.

Tender ride was fun by the way but the seats are too small.

There is a spike on the ground as you walk through the castle that used to denote the center of the park...

I started another thread on favorite tips and someone was kind enough to let me know about this one. So, I am bumping this up in hopes that others will chime in with some great tips and suggestions. :goodvibes

We were there this past week, and stayed the PPH. We discovered that if you leave from the back and walk through the PPH parking lot and head toward the AMC Theater (right side), you end up in Downtown Disney at the Lego store, directly across from the monorail. Saved us a lot of walking when we could utilize that little shortcut.

Watch the fireworks from Big Thunder Railroad. Get a Fp earlier in the day. Then when the first F! ends head over to BTRR. It is a great ride with all of the fireworks going. If you see you are too close to the front and may miss it by being too early, let people pass you
We also alwyas get Rancho del Zachallo and take it over to Billy Hill. Much better the all the fried stuff at Golden Horseshoe
Also, for the first time we were able to ride in the Lilly Belle! We asked the engineers at the Main Street station if it was on track that day. They said yes, took our names and told us to come back around 4:30. We had a private ride in the train car that was designed for Walt's wife. DD thought it was cool. But she realized how special it was when the CM told her Corbin Blue had just ridden on her when we got on. She sat in the same seat he did. and gushed!!

Also, when in Toontown, don't forget all of the cool activites around the Jail. The jail bars are wobbly, answer the phone, open the mail box, ring the doorbells for each door....

Sounds good to me. :)

OP, someone mentioned checkers, they have a checker board and pieces inside the Market on MS, the same place where you can listen in on the party lines someone else mentioned. :)

The past two times we were at Disneyland I noticed that the checkers weren't in the Marketplace... Just thought I'd share.
