Best little known tips?

(how old are the kids?)

- Ride BOTH sides of the Matterhorn during MM....first one & then the other...& say HI to Harold when he growls.

- If you have kids, give the canoes a try. It's rarely talked about here, but DS 9 & I had a great time taking the canoe on the River of America.

- Have a late breakfast at the Carnation (we like mickey waffles & the granola parfait) & say hi to Oscar.

- Spend an hour on a busy but pretty afternoon at the "Trat" having a beverage & watching the world walk by.

- If not on the "top" row (row A) of Soarin'.....tell the CM that you'll wait for the next ride (worth waiting the extra 5 min.):thumbsup2

- Do the Screamin' two step (if you have young kids). Ride Screamin' multiple times by utilizing the singles line & the King Triton's carousel next door. (adults trade off riding Screamin' while the kids ride Triton's multiple times). :thumbsup2

I'd tell you the super secret best way to purchase a dole whip....but if i did, I'd be banished from the boards, since it's a super secret. ;)

Actually, I disagree with this.....our family thinks the second row is the best. We are in the middle of the screen and can't see the edges, sure we can see feet above us but that also helps me with my fear of heights. If I can see feet above me I can convince myself that I'm not as high off the ground. lol

Eat a churro..YUM!!!!!

If you like checkers, then you can bring a bag of pieces and play on a board on the porch at the front of TSI or in the Market Place on Main Street.

If you go to the bathroom in NOS, take a minute outside of the bathroom to listen to the sounds and voices used for thematic purposes (there's a voodoo practitioner among other things).

Always be sure to look up at the second stories of buildings, because they are often decorated to fit the area.

Sounds good to me. :)

OP, someone mentioned checkers, they have a checker board and pieces inside the Market on MS, the same place where you can listen in on the party lines someone else mentioned. :)

Hound- I so agree about the canoes as a hiden secret. We went with a group of friends on a Hot day (this part is important!!!) and none of us had been on them in years. By the time we got back into the landing we had never laughed harder or got wetter in our lives on a Disney ride. It was a great memory and a huge blast!!

BTW the reason we were wet was only because we are TERRIBLE paddlers, and I mean TERRIBLE!!!!! Good paddlers, with good paddling friends won't get so wet, but how many people are really good paddlers?!?!?!?! :lmao:

Oh! I love the canoes. I'll have to make a memo to do that while we're there in a couple of weeks. I haven't done the canoes since I was probably 15 or so and it was a blast. We did get soaked, but our group decided we were more interested in splashing one another than actually trying to paddle like we knew what we were doing. It was a highlight of that trip. Fun times!

^ Yep, you can still get maps on the Jungle cruise. Just ask for one at the desk area to your left as you exit the ride.

At the end of Mike & Sulley to the Rescue, when you pass Roz for the last time, make sure you say something to her because she will respond and often quite appropriately.

When I said (in my best Mike voice) "Hello Roz, you're looking lovely this evening," she responded with "Whatever."

The next time, DS tried it and told her that he'd filed his paperwork and she asked if he'd remembered the puce copy. He then said that he'd forgotten that one and she replied "Whatever. Next time bring me a churro."

Roz is funny, she was flirting with my DBF a couple weekends ago, she said "You in the back in the hat, meet later. Me, you, dinner, make it happen" LOL Then the next weekend we took DD9s BFF and Roz asked them if they were twins, they said "yes" and she said "I thought so, you look alike, you both have 2 eyes" LOL They thought that was hilarious! :)

Anyone else miss the Country Bears Jamboree?

When you are riding The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, as the heffalumps and woozles room, turn around and look above the door BEHIND you. You will see some old familiar friends (- wipes tears -).

- Dreams

I absolutely miss the Country Bears Jamboree!!!! That was one of my favs as a child. I can still remember seeing the the girl bear (and for the life of me can't remember her name) coming down on the swing from the ceiling. I have seen the heads mounted in Pooh's ride.....(also wiping tears!). We went to WDW in 2004 and saw the show there.......it wasn't the same, at least in the sense that the bears looked sooooo ragged and old!!!

I am lovin' this thread.....keep 'em coming.

Roz responded appropriately to me, too. I don't remember exactly what she said, but it was something about my camera (I was taking a picture).

Does anyone know how Roz works? Is she controlled by a human, or is that AI? It's great, however it works.

She probably told you you had the lens cap on. DH was taking a picture of Roz at the end of the ride and she told him that very thing. We loved it.

My DS was celebrating his birthday last trip and he had a birthday pin on his Mickey ears. When we got to Roz in Monsters Inc, she sang happy birthday to him. He was totally surprised and thought it was so cool to have a character on a ride wish him happy b-day. :thumbsup2

Ah yes! Roz asked my kids if they are twins (they are not!). We loved her. That ride was awesome for us, as 1) my kids :lovestruc Monsters Inc and 2) the line was never more than 10 minutes. We usually rode 2-3 times in a row without more than a 5 minute wait.

I am totally going to look for the Country Bear nod in Pooh!!! I have seen the portrait of Mr. Toad (or owl? cannot recall...) handing over the deed to the ride in WDW but didn't know to look for anything at DLR. We rode that about 100 times last year, too.

My secret tip...

You can get around the split plate charge at the Table Service Restaurants just by asking for another plate after you've received your food

Turkey legs are great but you need to make a bathroom run or bring lots of wet wipes.

For a second I thought this was the single most important and helpful tip ever shared on this board, given how greasy the turkey legs can be. Then I realized that the bathroom run and/or wet wipes was to wash your hands.

So the turkey legs won't put as big a dent in your day as I thought...
