I'd certainly consider the suggestions from know posters but I'd completely ignore the poll. I don't know how much time the webmaster has to examine every poll but the last poll featured many new members with zero posts voting for a banned company.

Most people have good experiences with most companies most of the time. These polls are are really nothing more than which are the more popular companies with DISBOARD members.

I've never read a bad report about the company Ducklite suggests but they're not as popular as other companies so I'd never expect them to be high on any poll.

Why are only those companies mentioned? There are MANY more..

I'm sure there are dozens of limo companies that have competitive prices, give great service and aren't well know in the internet discussion boards. Ducklite brings up Golden/ Lorden for example.

Based on your posts it sounds like you're retired from the MCO transportation business. Why don't you suggest a few such companies?

I have to second what Lewisc has said. More often than not those that respond to these polls do not have experience as a customer with all of the companies listed, so they vote for their favorite or the one they may use exclusively. With a poll like this, "best" is very subjective. To me, a detailed review carries more weight than a poll in this instance.

Anyone doing research on town car companies or other alternatives, the best thing is to search the boards for threads and reviews on whatever you're considering -- be it a town car company, taxi, DME, or rental car -- and weigh the pluses and minuses. Keep in mind, of course, that people tend to share negative experiences without being asked for opinions more frequently than they are positive.

Lewisc and Matthew bring up good points.

I've used many car service and limo companies...Mears (Gag me), Your Ride, Florida Town Car Service, Tiffany, and Golden/Lorden over the years.

The only one that I've consistently had exceedingly good service with is Golden/Lorden. Tiffany I never had an issue with the drivers, once I got an older car that had seen better days but was clean, but their office staff is just horrible, and because of that one reason I won't use them anymore. Florida Town Car Service had scarey drivers, and I the last time I used them the driver was dangerous and rude. And Your Ride was sold and the new owners drove the business into the ground.

I hope I'm not in trouble for mentioning some these by name--I'm assuming that because I've got not much good to say about the "banned ones" that it's OK.

We used Florida Town Car this past January from Sanford to ASM ($160 rt) Great service ,friendly driver -we booked them again for August.

Another vote for Golden Limo. I wasn't aware of the merger with Lorden but Jimmy is great! Prompt, courteous, and very pleasant. The Limo was clean and well stocked. (Very hot in July and there was cold bottled water and soda for us to enjoy.) Kids always watch a movie on the way to the resort.

Golden and Lorden are the same company now. You can google Lorden Transportation. Last I talked to Jimmy a couple months ago he had lost his cell, and so it might be a different number now, so this is Lorden's number, just request Jimmy as the driver: 1-866-883-1174.

They operate 24 hours/7days, but at night you've got a chance that Jim won't be available and Dennis will be your driver. Either way they are both great guys and I wouldn't let that keep me from booking.

In trying to find a reliable company, i think what everyone is afraid of is that they will be at the airport, and the limo won't. If that would happen does anyone know if there are other limo companies located right at the airport that use could use instead? I'm arriving at 10:00 in the morning on Sunday and hope i get a driver that wasn't out all night.

I think you will find that the companies you see mentioned here on the DIS boards are pretty reputable. Most of us have used one or more of them at one time or another. I wouldn't worry too much about them not showing up or being late. Yes, everyone can have an off day, but it's not an everyday thing. Just choose a towncar company and rest assured that all will be fine. But, to answer your actual question, yes, there are companies that are there, at the airport,trying to drum up business. Have to say though, those would be the ones I would try to avoid!
