Veteran cruisers may need to think back a few years! What's been the most interesting, useful, or just plain funny information or advice you've gotten on these boards about sailing DCL?

Try not to do everything and relax and go with the flow.

But the cruisers who in the last said go not just consider DCL tours, be bold and book private tours.

The experienced cruises in 2002 who helped me on my first DCL cruise most gone now.

The most interesting thing is the DCL photo of the day thread you a tail,y see it.

And a shout...

The most useful and wonderful contributions is..

Barb and Jill whom she those wonderful cruise designs they are real stars!

Best? Read the Navigators. Doesn't feel like there's time (especially on a 3-nighter) but those short cruises are where it's vital that you read it. Find out what's happening, see what the family wants to do, and make it happen.

Getting home and finding out how the "dine and play" or "play and dine" or whatever it's called is supposed to work is too late to find out how it's supposed to work. It was in the Navigator each day, and I just didn't read them. (and I read *everything* so that was weird)

What is in this platter?

I hadn't heard about this before either since we've never ordered room service. I looked it up - sounds like an international cheese platter with fruit and crackers. Apparently varies each cruise depending on availability. I was sold as soon as I read "cheese!"

Order your coffee from room service, before you go to bed. It apparently stays warm until the morning and .. Tada... Coffee ready to go no waiting or having room service knock on the door if others are sleeping!

For disembarkation - to pre print address labels with stateroom number.. there were 5 of us and we had ALOT of bags!

Hi - what is the dine and play or play and dine? Is it ship specific? Thanks for any insight

For late seating, the kid counselors will come to the front of the restaurants and pick up the kids to go to Oceaneers Club/Lab. It's at a certain time. The one thing they don't say even in the Navigator is that it's best if the kids just order kid's meals, and you let your server know so they expedite the kids' service. Kids get done in a shorter amount of time, you bring them to the front of the restaurant, and they take the kids so you can finish your meal without the kids.

I had a complete lack of understanding of it, thinking they would come *in* and get the kids, and we never got to make use of it. Got home, was scanning Navigators, there it was in "black and white". :)

Board early, bring the kids in swim suits, cover up. The pool will never be that clean. Slide it up, eat chicken strips, take turns going to the buffet...but get by the pool first thing. It's so clean and it's dreamy. Everything is hosed down. Three easy hours by the pool.

Take tons of pictures. Even of things that seem silly. You'll appreciate them later. Tons of pictures!!!! Enjoy laughter in your stateroom.

Palo Brunch and booking on-board to take advantage of a 10% discount and on-board credit for your next cruise...and yes, you will def be cruising DCL again ;)

best advice ever (and it is still the thing I tell all newbies looking for tips): READ THE NAVIGATORS EACH NIGHT.....
