Best ice cream?

We have Salt & Straw in Seattle and OMG…delicious! Strawberry Balsamic is a fav but some of the seasonal flavors are out of this world. We plan to make a trip over to S&S since they have some flavors in their standard lineup that I can’t get in Seattle.

L'Artisan des Glacés is our go to for ice cream at Disney. It's on my wife's must do list. Cone in a cup and usually the caramel apple/cinnamon flavor for us. We'd never had the Ample Hills and it sounds like we missed out.
Wow caramel apple and cinnamon sounds fantastic!

Yes. They have some weird flavors, some crazy but good flavors, and some totally normal flavors.

Not sure how/why you would be "put off" by the whole business because one or two of the flavors didn't appeal to you...

I’m put off because IMO they only have 2 normal flavors. Not sure why you think you get to judge what other people want to eat.

That's because I have kids with me and I wouldn't be going all the way to DS to then find out that they only have cricket icecream. I didn't realise they also had more standard flavours, so I will definitely give it a try :)

If you’re staying in the Epcot area & you don’t want B & C or Boardwalk Ice Cream, The Fountain at the Dolphin has good ice cream too, hot fudge sundaes etc.

They have more than two. Regular offerings per their menu right now are:

Chocolate Gooey Brownie
Cinnamon Snickerdoodle
Coffee & Love Nuts
Double Fold Vanilla
Freckeld Mint Chocalate Chip
Peanut Butter Brittle Caramel Fudge
Salted, Malted, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons

I left out many that would not be considered "normal" and all of the seasonal flavors. Some of the above are a bit plussed up, but tehya are all pretty normal ice cream flavors - maybe snickerdoodle is borderline.

And hey, if it's not for you then it's not, and that's okay, but they do in fact offer a lot of variety and not just stuff with bleu cheese or Olive Oil in it.

Those aren’t normal flavors to me. But that’s none of your business, you don’t get to judge my opinions on what I want to eat.

Well, no, I'm not saying that you have to like any of those flavors, but I think that if you go into just about any ice cream shop in America you will find that chocolate, vanilla, coffee, peanut butter, caramel, mint, and cookie dough are the basis for a great many varieties. I mean, I can't stand coffee or anything made with it, but it's still pretty "normal" I would say.

They have way more than 2 "normal" flavors. Unless "normal" is chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry and nothing else. Because they didn't have strawberry last time I checked.

I know I'm so sad that it closed down and that you have to go all the way to DS to get icecream.
Why are you going all the way to Disney Springs when there is still an ice cream shop on the boardwalk? I actually prefer the new one. Yes it’s the same Edy’s ice cream that they have at beaches and cream, but it’s cheaper and way easier to customize your sundae.

Still dreaming about the Balsamic Strawberry from Salt and Straw I had on our last trip.

We also love the ice cream brioche sandwich at L'Artisan des Glacés, and the No Way Jose at B&C.

My favorite frozen dessert at DS is Vivoli Gelato. Would love to try Salt and Straw as it sound like the kind of old fashioned ice cream I remember from my childhood; less air and no artificial flavorings. Not a chocolate fiend but when the mood hits Ghirardelli’s is worth the visit.

I seem to be in the minority here but we enjoy the Plaza Ice Cream parlour. We'll be using some snack credits for the ice cream sundaes next year. I know there aren't many flavours but it suits our simple tastes.

Lol. My personal cut-off is 15 minutes. The cookies are good, but longer than that and it's not worth it..

Can't agree more. They're not bad cookies but I almost feel like they're too much. I love a cookie full of chocolate chips but these are next level, it's almost all chips and no cookie.

I miss gooey butter cake at Ample Hills as well. As others have said, l'artisan glaces in France is great. I haven't tried the italy gelato place, not sure how it compares.

A No Way Jose is always great at B&C

If you like very standard flavors the Fountain is good too at the Dolphin.
