I was wondering what would be the best choice of hotel with a budget of $100/day (max) in June/July?

Note: Without priceline since we are from outside the US.

What would be your suggestion ?

Tks.;)

I'm assuming you're refering to offsite....

You'll get a hundred different opinions, I'll qualify mine. I think it's important to understand why someone picks a hotel. With a $100 maximum, I'd pick the Courtyard Marriott Village at Little Lake Bryan. The website is http://www.marriottvillage.com/. There are three hotels, we prefer the Courtyard.

We stumbled onto this hotel two years ago. It was brand new in late 2001. The rooms are clean, spacious, and bright. I say bright because so my main complaint with the $40 per night garden variety I192 hotels is you can't see your hand in front of your face even with all the lights on. The in-house ammenities are decent...a restaurant with a nice breakfast buffet and a small bar. Next to the bar is a TV area with couches. The service ranged from excellent to exceptional.

Outside the hotel is a food court which is really nice, with a Pizza Hut, several other counter restaurants, and a convenience store. Right next door (easy walk) are several 'sitdown" restaurants including the Bahama Breeze and Golden Coral restaurants.

The location is incredible. You're right of I4 yet kind of sheltered. You are a one minute drive from the entrance to Downtown Disney, and the Crossings, a well-equipped strip mall (more restaurnts, a grocery store, etc.).

The most impressive part of the hotel is the pool area. The hotel wraps around the area, so it's entirely closed in. The Pool is a "walk-in," sort of like the beach. The pool goes from outside to an inside area, seperated by a waterfall you swim through. There's an indoor and an outdoor hot tub, an outside lounge (only open in busy season), tons of various tables and gazebos, tropical plants, etc. We found it a great place to hang out. It's not a Disney Resort style pool, but it's very nice.

Downfalls: Mostly food-related. They offer breakfast only in-house. And the food court opened late morning and was always closed when we got back from the parks. We found this to be a non-issue, but those who like on-site amentities might take umbrage. Of course, the restaurants next door to the complex serve elongated hours. The only other complaint I have is that the folks at the timeshare booth are pushy. But hey: either push back, or ignore.

Cost: I just ran through our June dates and rooms were $60 to $89, the deepest discount was for 90 day or more advanced reservation.

Hope that helps!

Pat

Lots of questions: How many people in your group? What ages? Have you considered onsite? What sort of things are most important to you - more than 1 room, kitchen, location, good pool, etc.?

It'll help us think of other good places for you. :)

There may be some onsite discounts coming out soon. There are a lot of good offsite options in your price range, but you may also be able to stay onsite under $100. The typical trade offs are smaller rooms and no free breakfast (many offsite hotels have). Lots of offsite places also have minikitchens or at least a refrigerator.

Gillian, sorry for the lack of information, here we go:

2 adults, 2 children (9yr and 6yr)...

My dream is to stay on site, but I can't afford the prices. I'd rather stay in a good hotel off site (more room) than to stay in a value Disney resort (like All Star).

Pool is really important.

We don't like the Kissimmee area, we had a lot of bad experiences there in the past.

One more thing, since we won't have breakfast included in the rate (problably), it is good to have places near by where we can eat.

Prior to Pat's suggestion (Courtyard Village), we were thinking about the Hilton Garden Inn close to Sea World.

Thanks for your Help !
:) :)

Hermasil,

I would agree with Gillian that there are often "deals" out there. My wife and I stayed at the Best Western DTD last year and it was a pretty good deal. But we got most of our "deals" through Priceline. It's a shame you can't utilize that.

I wrote again because I wanted to clarify that the breakfast at the Courtyard Marriott Village is NOT included (but it is cheap). I've not stayed at the Fairfield in the same complex, but they have a free continental breakfast. But personally, I'd buy my own breakfast. The Fairfield's pool doesn't compare with the Courtyard.

If you stay there, I'll be interested in what you think. You can get reviews of the Marriott at Biddingfortravel.com and Travelocity. I've never found a bad review. My wife is going to be six months pregnant in June, so we're dropping way too much money and staying at the Beach Club just to cut her walking down considerably. If not, I'd be at Marriott Village...

Ok I'll let you know, but I'm sure that with all your help we will have a wonderful family trip this summer !!!

My vote would be the Country Inn and Suites Calypso Cay. Or there is also an Amerisuites at the same complex. You can book a Kid's Suite for under $100. It is one room with the kids in a seperate alcove area. They have their own tv and nintendo. Mom and Dad have their own tv by their bed. It is only a year or so old. Very clean. It comes with a large continental breakfast. Cereal, waffles, juice, milk, boiled eggs, fruit, muffins, donuts. Not a full breakfast but certainly more than enough for our family. The pool has a zero depth entrance with 2 spitting fountains on the sides and a fun slide. The pool is not huge, but there are two quiet pools as well. There is also a nice 18 hole putt-putt golf course (Nicer than HIFS). And there is a playground, small arcade and fitness room. They have other room types as well. They go as low as $59 a night. You might be able to get an Entertainment rate or book through www.valuetrips.com for discounts. Go to www.calypsocay.com to see the complex. Look on the website for the Country Inn and Suites or the Amerisuites. Rooms also come with a small refridgerator and microwave. Great for drinks and popcorn at night!

hi, go to www.mousesavers.com and check they just put a new code out today good through july 3 2003 and i think the moderates are 104.00 a night plus tax i think it is coming to like 115.00 a night.

HAve you looked into renting a vacation home? We have always stayed on-site but are going to give this a whirl in May.

I booked through http://www.closesttodisney.com/index.html.

Great rate. 2 master suites, private pool and jacauzzi for a 103.00 a night.

We are really looking forward to our stay here.

Why don't more people use skyauction? We used it for our Honeymoon and we got a 2 bedroom suite for 7 nights for only $225.00! That all 7 nights for $225, not $225 each night. We stayed at the Silver Lake resort which is right outisde the animal kingdom. Beautiful. We were only planning on going for maybe 5 nights, but since our hotel was so cheap we stayed longer.

SMR, we didn't use skyauction because there was no availability for our dates (early march) at the time we were looking (4-8 weeks ahead of time). Most people like to have their reservations set, and depending on when you are going, Sky auction can be hit or miss.
