Hi

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a hotel on international drive that would be suitable for non drivers?
I understand there is a good transport system, but we are looking for somewhere that will have a good selection of bars, restaurants and shops within an easy stroll away.
Preferably near to Universal area, but not essential, so long as there is the baove few things.
hope someone can help, thanks
Janine

You can walk from IDrive to Universal (20 minutes stroll). The general area is about 2/3rds of the way up IDrive. This is near to Holiday Inn and Quality Inn locations. We stayed at the bottom end of IDrive (Westwood Boulevard) and it only took 12 minutes on the very wonderful Trolley Bus to get to stop 16 which is where you get off and begin the walk to Universal. We stayed at Travelodge near Seaworld and it was basic but also clean and the staff were great. There are two small pools (one heated) a pool bar, soap and shampoo in the room, towels changed every day (thin and rather small but do the job), beds made every day but the room only cleaned every 4th day (rest of the time was emptying bins and a quick sweep through). There was a security guard on duty throughout the day and we saw him patrolling on a very regular basis (which was a nice sight to a single parent - and not just because we felt safe - cor he looked good in the uniform!!)
I prefer not to recommend hotels as everyone has their own ideas but if you go to www.kissimmee-us192.com there is a map system of all of IDrive with the names of hotels and links to their web pages etc.
